i really haven't tried another one better..i own an old rat, an old tube screamer, a maxon real tube dist/od rod 881, an ancient ibanez wauwau fuzz, an dod fx56 american metal and i owned a lot of fu@ing pedals but this one is really cream...best OD ever and for only 15$!!!
my setup is really complex : i use about 20 guits like gibson and orville les pauls, kramer alu neck, kramer baretta '84, kramer striker, bc rich stIII, music man van halen, fender strat dan smith, tokay and greco's tele and strat copies, ibanez strat copy ' 75, a tokay and a fernandes flying v, gibson sg '67, eko 335 style jazz guitar, eko les paul custom copy, etcc. trough a ernie ball volume pedal + boss cs1 +line6 filter modeler + ts9 or fx 50 + rat + mini qtron + maxon phaser tone + ibanez bc2 or sound city chorus + ibanez fl 301 dx + rockman stereo chorus/delay + morley split box that is goin' to a pod 2.0 and a yamaha dg stomp for some situations, otherwise i use an old soundcity 200 valve head or the marshall jubilee 50 combo that i own from 1989.
Reliability/Durability:
yes maybe i can depend but:
1 is the way you play not the gear
2 this pedal is really hard to destroy
3 i really don't know where to find another one..i'm from italy and this one is from NY and i'm really bored about ebay...i bought this one only because it was so cheap and i read good reviews here
4 i use respect with things i consider real instruments...for the rest i would like to meet the bosses of the big companies and use their "instruments" in the only possible way on them...
Ease of Use:
anyone can use this pedal...you need only your hear and taste
Customer Support:
i really don't know anyway i think that is quite impossible to break but very easy to be repaired.
Overall Rating:
i play mostly rock and hard'n'blues in the classic way...but i'm open minded on every thing that sounds good to me (no fu@@ing rave music and things like that, please...)anyway this one is perfect for the creamy dynamic crunchy sound that match with my tastes and way of playing.
i played 18 years of my 34 and i owned a lot of things, much of them are passed away, like high gain amps or heavy metal things. the only things that i always had are the boss cs2, the marshall, the rat and the bc rich but i'm pretty sure that this yellow brick will be the fifth element of my "eternity set up".
the only thing that i don't understand is why dod make this pedals with this stupid battery cover that loose ore breaks immediately.
in the end there's only one thing i would like to say to you all:
DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY WITH THE BRANDS AND FASHIONS BECAUSE THE BEST MUSIC IS ALWAYS COMING FROM THE SOUL AND IS OFTEN MADE WITH POOR GEAR
if you find one of this yellow pedals and you are in doubt in buying this or for example a ts 9, buy this one absolutely!! i will never buy the ts 9 again but i will buy another fx 50 for the price of a tubescreamer for sure!!!
