The Features are well discussed in other reviews. The only think I will add is that in this guitar, there is a difference that you can hear when you set the strangle switch, and I like both settings. Also the rythm setting is darker than the lead and sounds great too.
I love Jags and this is no exception. It sounds like a standard Jag with alot more depth to the tone.
The color - black with chrome controls is perfect and very unique and, well sexy. Alot of people change out the chrome witchhat knobs but I love them. In fact I bought a set for my Jag Baritone custom and my 66 Jag.
Action, Fit, & Finish:
Extreme quality. No flaws at all. I got mine from American Music Supply and it came out of the box perfect. I like the Fender strings it came with and bought a case of them.
NOTE: some of these guitars come with a tinted neck which is beautiful. Mine didn't, but it still is beautiful.
Sound Quality:
You get a very distinct sound from this. It doesnt sound like any other guitar you can buy. The short scale neck with the Dragster Humbuckers and stop tailpiece all work to give you a Jag sound with more balls. The strangle switch actually does give a sound in the higher frequency range that is brighter but no setting is too bright.
The only problem I had with this guitar, and all MIJ Fenders suffer from it is the fact that it is not well shielded, and you can get alot of hum. So I opened it up and used copper tape and shielded it properly and now it is quiet. The shielding it comes with is just conductive paint which is not very good. But even so, I love the sound and with a little work, or by taking it to a good tech, you can fix it.
Reliability/Durability:
Built like all Fenders, I believe this would stand up to anything. I dont play in a band and I take good care of my guitars, and never "relic" them.
Ease of Use:
Customer Support:
I have always had very good luck dealing with Fender, although I haven't had to with this guitar. I will give it a 10 since in the past Fender has always been very responsive to me
Overall Rating:
I have been playing for about 36 years. I own about 23 guitars, some vintage, some new, some cheap and some expensive.
I love playing this and it sounds very resonant played unplugged! I cant get over the fact that I can play it unplugged and get such a nice sound. This guitar is a no lose situation.
With overdrive and distortion it really shines. Every distortion pedal (and I have tons of them) sounds good with it.
I would definitely replace it if stolen or lost.
