First I had the Stock TS-808 Reissue, then read about the Keeley & had to try it. After using the Keeley for a year I bought a Analog.man Sun Face (the best fuzz I ever used & I tried & I used many). Now, because I like the Sun Face so much I started reading into the TS-808 Reissue Silver Mod by Analog.man. I purchased a stock TS-808 Reissue to compair to my Keeley TS-808 & liked the tone from the stock one (even after using the Keeley for a year). I still didn't like the "Huge Mid-Hump" from the stock one. So I had to try the TS-808 Reissue Silver Mod by Analog.man. "Here's my review!!" The stock one sounded great BUT way too much mid & not transparent enough!!! The Keeley was better on the mid & more transparent. Remember "transparent" is about bringing the tone of the guitar out. Keeley did this by adding much more top end. Not good unless you have a very dark amp. The Analog.man TS-808 Reissue Silver Mod is the best........ It doesn't change the sound of the TS808 it makes it more useable. Better lows (which in my opinion sounded good on all the pedals), he tamed the mids to where their not gone but less shrill, The pedal seems to be more useable when you roll off the volume on the guitar or change your picking attack & the knobs on the pedal seem to have more of an affect on what they should do. I liked the stock TS-808 Reissue but had a major problem with the shrill tone. Analog.man fixes that & makes the pedal more useable. Oh, & the chip I'm using is The 1982 JRC4558D #5051 (I've tried the Burr Brown, RC4558P, TA7558, The Mylisian & about 6 others I also tried about 4 of "The 1982 JRC's) this one sounds the best. My settings are ? on the drive, 2:00 on the tone & 5:00 on the volume. I use all strats with Gold Fender Lace's into the TS808, Keeley modded vox wah (mellow wah) & a Maxon AD999 then into a 65 Deluxe Reverb a 63 Vibroverb or a 65 Twin Reverb. I'll replace the TS808 with the Sun Face for a different vibe. I use JJ tubes & did bright cap mods on both the 65 DR & 63 VV . Trust me I know what I'm doing. Save your playing time & money. Don't do what I did & try everything if you like what your reading. "Try this first" The TS808 I'm using also has the "slightly better" Maxon board.
Reliability/Durability:
It's built tough.
Ease of Use:
Very Easy to use. He gives you a little more all the knobs & reduces the mid-hump to where it sounds much better than a stock TS-808 Reissue but it still retains the TS-808 Reissue tone. A+
Customer Support:
Analog.man will do what he needs to keep his word.

Outstanding! I can't say enough...

I'm playing this through 2 different Peavey classics along with a Diaz boost, Keeley Comp., Tonebone Hot British, Keeley Fuzzface, Analogman Sunface, and so on.  I won't mention the specific loop effects, but say that this pedal works nice with them all.  Let me back up for a second and clarify the amp selection.  After 25 years of playing, the Classic Peavey's are awesome for a local working music man(with a tube change).  I wanted so badly not to like this amp because of the name, but after trying dozens, it won.  That's another story though.  Back to the 808.  Mine shamefully started off as a Keeley modded version. No offense, Robert!! After a year though I wasn't really impressed.  Long story short, I e-mailed a few times with Mike and sent it off with confidence.  I have had it about 6 months and truly think the mod is well worth it.  Nothing to me is a "10" except the final mix down, but this thing is much better for me than the Keeley version.  I am a Keeley fan and have several pedals of his up on my board, however, make no mistake, Analogman has the right mod for this pedal in my opinion.  The tone is excellent and the mid-hump is almost completely gone.  I compared it to a local pro's Keeley version and we both agreed quickly that this one has the better tone.  Gain is more articulate, tone is more dynamic.
Reliability/Durability:
Of course the pedal and the mod are reliable.  I've been jumping on these things for almost 3 decades and haven't broke one yet.  I gig with a back up, but not the same one.  Hopefully, I'll get another one before I ever have to deal with my back up.
Ease of Use:
It's all been said many times over.  If you play the instrument, you know what it does.  3 labeled knobs, enough said.  After almost 3 decades, this is my first review, and it comes with good reason.
Customer Support:
Mike and crew are very good guys.  I had a problem with a custom chorus he built for me.  A bunch of e-mails back and forth, and a few returns back and forth of the pedal unfortunately didn't solve the problem.  However, Mike responded and handled the situation as if I were a friend.  Their action speaks volumes.  As good as I have seen in the business.  Every one says it, it sounds corny, but these guys do in fact care.  Appreciate it, and get over it.
Overall Rating:
I'm "30 something" at this point and been playing "20 something" years.  I am ashamed to say that I own a closet full of gear.  No one should be proud of being a gear junky.  However, I buy em', try em', and sell em' if they don't make the grade.  I'm a little old school in that respect.  I believe you have to own and operate for a while before you can determine if it is right for you.  I don't feel that 20 minutes in Guitar Center will tell you anything!!  I play Rock of all sorts.  My main plays are U2, Rush, Zep, and 70's and 80's stuff.  This pedal with all it's imperfections and tonal deficiencies (even after the mod) is a large part of the sound that comes from those bands, and that era.  For that reason alone, it is not only a keeper, but esential.

I think this is the closest sounding overdrive to the vintage 808s. I do use a Marschall JCM900 and a Gibson LP, with room level volume it warms my sound and I have a total control over it. The best thing is that I have some digital toys too, like the newest BOSS GT-8; when the TS808 is on the signal chain together with the GT-8, it totally makes the GT effects sound natural and vintage!!!
Reliability/Durability:
Superior, and well known analogman built quality.. Wonderful
Ease of Use:
Plug'n Play... You'll definately get the vintage tone easily, with no hassles.
Customer Support:
You have the phone number, you have the email, you have the manufacturer himself willing to discuss everything with you on the phone line... Who else gives this service?
Overall Rating:
Best BUY!

I play a couple of strats ( both new american deluxes with s1 switches and SCN pickups, brilliant guitars, better than some old " classic " strats I've owned ) and a gibson Johnny A signature, the best guitar I've ever played.  The Gibson is a very toneful woody sounding hollow body so its very important to me to use effects and pedals that don't detract from the inherent sound of the guitar. I use a Mesa Lone star and a variety of the usual high end boutique effects. Quality of tone and tranparency is very important to me with everything I buy.   When I kick in an overdrive or distortion I want to still hear the tone and nuances of my guitars/amp but just overdriven or more oopmh. In other words more of the sound but bigger and badder with more hair and sustain. I cant stand when I see a guitar player live and it's so apparent when they kick in the pedals, their sound alters so much when they go into a lead or something...thins out and sound unnatural....it just sounds unprofessional and cold.  I had a TS- 808 re- issue that was cool but the sound didn't do it for me.  It altered my sound too much and the mid bump drove me nuts.  It was rich and creamy and had that classic tube screamer vibe...but it wasn't for me....I sold it on e bay and sort of missed it once I sold it.  I figured what the hell I'll try the Analogman " enhanced " version. So I bought one.  Wow......it's absolutely the best overdrive pedal I've ever heard or encoutered....I would assume its the sort of sound the people buying Klon Centaurs are looking for.  It still has that cool tube screamer magic so to speak.......but now it so much more.  It takes your basic sound and just adds transparent balls, overdrive, oomph and sustain.  It's awesome.  Huge improvement over the regular ts-808 reissue.  I'm loving this pedal.  Its added another channel to my amp so to speak. I just kick it in when I want more of the sound I already have ( when using the lead channel of my amp )...or to add some hair to a clean sound ( when using the clean channel). The tone of my guitar and picking dynamics pass through this thing better than any OD pedal I've heard.  I went through a lot of dist/OD pedals over the years......but this is the keeper.  Absolute pristine sound quality !
Reliability/Durability:
I'm thinking it's very reliable..............I mean there's 20 year old ts 808s kicking around out there right ? I've heard the switches can wear out on these though.    I'm sure ANALOG man would take care of any problem right away.  So I'm not sweating it all.
Ease of Use:
Very simple to use.  Although you do have to forget any preconceived ideas you may have about how to set the tone on this since it so much more transparent than a normal TS 808. You can put the tone knob much higher, like as high as 3 o clock, and you will not get a brittle sound.....just more of the natural highs from your guitar, and still all the low end.  Also I believe you do get a bit more of a volume boost than a normal TS 808 ( if you set the level all the way up )...........this gives you more flexibility as well.
Customer Support:
Don't know about IBANEZ customer support...dont really give a shit either.  All I know is Mike at Analogman is great.  I would contact him if I had a problem.  I've bought a handful of effects from him recently ( the bi chorus and bi comprossor- both excellent pro quality and pro sounding effects....but those are other reviews at another time ! ).  He ships quick and answers all your questions kindly and quickly........no problems here.  It's easier than walking into your local guitar center !
Overall Rating:
OK, I'm really throwing the 10's out fast and loose here........but I've used many OD/dist pedal over the years ( I'm talking 20 - 25 years here folks ) in a variety of bands and situations........and none, I mean none sounded as transparent, professional and overall cool as this.  I'm very pleased with my purchase and my OD/dist pedal search is over !

I have two vintage ts808 pedals.  One with RC4558D and one with JRC4558D.  When Ibanez recently reissued the ts808 i was excited and bought one.  Anyone who says it sounds exactly like an original ts808 is either deaf, or... well DEAF!  It most certainly does not.  So rather than sell it, i decided to send it off to analogman and get his ts800/SILVER mod and it is wonderful.  It now acts different than a tube screamer.  More bass, and alot less compressed sounding which is hard to explain in words.  The sound quality is especially improved in the lower gain settings.  It has alot less mids too which is cool.
Reliability/Durability:
This is a toss up here.  Its technically cheaply made mass produced junk in its stock form... But once analogman mods it, he checks thru every pedal to make sure there no problems and replaces all the cheap stuff with this mod so its now very well made.
Ease of Use:
Very easy to use, but a little more complex because there are so many changes made to this you really need to close your eyes and set the 3 knobs.  The way you normally set your other tube screamers may not be the best way to set this one.
Customer Support:
Mike is the best. He is fast and friendly in email and stands by his products.
Overall Rating:
I'm really happy with my purchase.  Just look a normal tube screamer you can use it on the clean channel for mild overdrive or in front of a distorted amp to boost it, yet its different enough from a typical tube screamer now that it has become another pedal i use and not just a "backup ts808" in case one of my vintage ones would break.  Sounds excellent with humbuckers or single coils too.
