I am not going to write a full review as there is no need to re-iterate what others have said - this IS the best chorus pedal being made today. I haven't tried every single chorus box out here, but I have owned all the following (simultaneously, I might add!) and the Retro-Sonic is my favourite: Fulltone Choralflange / Boss CE-2 (3 of them), DC-2, DC-3 / Arion SCH-1 (3 of them) / Maxon CS-9 Pro & CS-550 / Diamond Halo / Ross R88 (blue one & black one) / EBS Red Twister / MXR Micro-Chorus / Rolls Twin-Spin / Voodoo Lab Analog Chorus They have all been eBayed except one of the SCH-1s and the DC-2 (although they may too be heading that way soon!) The other reason for writing is that I too have done the 'bright' mod as mentioned by 'Slaam!' below except I went one step further (or rather my local tech did) and added a mini-toggle switch to be able to swap between 'normal' and 'bright' mode. Before this mod my only criticism of the pedal was the slight attenutation of the highs which I felt prevented the vibrato mode from cutting through in a mix (and could make darker-sounding, humbucker-equipped guitars a bit muddy). The mod is subtle, but it's significant, and I have to agree that it makes the pedal sound even better, especially in vibrato mode. Have no hesitation in doing it, especially if you can fit the toggle switch (which looks cool by the way in between the intensity and level knobs, as though it was there all along). One other thing - I did experience a fairly loud popping with the true-bypass switch (a common problem) which did not go away, even with the appropriate 'priming' (stomping on it a few times to "discharge the capacitance" or whatever). Tim e-mailed me a simple way of overcoming this (a quick solder job) and the popping is now gone. The bypassed tone is unaffected.

Now the popping is corrected and the 'bright' switch is in I can honestly say my search for the ultimate chorus is over. If you're reading, Tim, how about making these mods standard?

My signal chain goes from guitar to Ernie Ball volume pedal, Ernie Ball wah, MXR reissue script phase 90, EHX deluxe electric mistress, Retro-Sonic chorus to the front of a Mesa F-30 combo amp. In the loop of the amp is an RSP intelliverb. This pedal gives me exactly the chorus sound that I like. It is thick and warm. The vibrato mode is also very nice. If you are looking for the CE-1 sound, this is it.
Reliability/Durability:
I have had this pedal for well over a year now, and I pretty much use it daily. I have had no problems whatsoever.
Ease of Use:
Very easy to get a great sound in chorus or vibrato mode. A few simple controls are all that is needed and that is exactly what you get.
Customer Support:
I have never needed to deal with Tim for any problems, but I did communicate with him several times before I purchased the unit. He is totally professional. E-mails were answered quickly, and the information that he gave me about the pedal and the transaction was accurate. I would recommend him and his company without any hesitation.
Overall Rating:
I play classic/progressive rock and have been playing for about 30 years. In that time, I have owned many chorus pedals (boss ce-2, ce-3, ch-1, Danelectro cool cat, Marshall chorus, as well as several rack units), but since I received this one, I have not needed to look any further. If you are looking for a chorus pedal, I would certainly recommend considering the Retro-Sonic. The quality of the product, and the company are both outstanding. It may seem somewhat expensive, but, I believe that it is worth the money.

Tim built a better mousetrap on this one. True bypass, accurate reproduction of the Boss CE-1 sound. If you are familiar with this sound, you know that the highs are dulled a bit. I emailed Tim about this, saying that I wished that I could have that element of the original sound changed. There is a mod that he shared with me that opens up the highs, and it involves removing one capacitor. Twenty minutes later, and I have the perfect chorus, even one better than the original, IMHO. I can share this mod if you want it. Only, don't try it if you don't have any soldering skills. Take it to someone with a little experience.
Reliability/Durability:
Tough as an anvil.
Ease of Use:
It's a no-brainer finding the sweet spots on this one.
Customer Support:
As detailed above, Tim is accessible and willing to truly be involved in your experience with his products.
Overall Rating:
I've tried a lot of choruses (Maxon CH 550, Analogman Clone Chorus, Boss CE-1, Boss CE-2,etc.) and this is a must have for the player who wants the CE-1 vibe and sound without the drawbacks. After all, the CE-1 set the watermark.

Tim Larwill, Is a stand up pedal maker. I bought a chorus off the page, it did not sound right, I emailed Tim explained my concern. He said send it to me and I,ll check out. He ended up having to replace a chip.It came back proto and as good as new.Sounding beautius .He refused to take any money for the repair. I paid for shipping Only more then fair as the pedal was used. I then bought a Phaser sounded pristine, I made the mistake of putting a 12 volt adapter into the peadal and something fried. So off to Tim It went. I asked how much for the repair, this was my fault mind you and had told him so.He repaired the pedal promptly and when I asked him how much.He said just pay the shipping. That is what I call service and loyalty to your products. His peadals are killer and so is his, commitment to his work.Just had to share this in a world of once bought good luck. Thanks for the Great service Tim!!!. Thanks Rob.
Overall Rating:
I play anthing from blues, and jazz to heavy metal. This chorus can cross over to all those style,s. I would say it, s more in the vain of vintage rock, to hard rock area. If it were lost or stolen I would replace it. Very musical inspiring, sounds.
