I've been playing a gibson LP thru the pedals into a JC120. It is a noisy pedal, before and after the mods. With that much gain, there is always going to be noise. I liken this mod to spraying air freshener on a pile of shit. They do improve the sound, it fills it out a little bit. But I thought it sounded rather lifeless afterward. I don't blame Brian. You can't save em all Hasselhoff.
Reliability/Durability:
Boss, of course. Cockroaches, Keith Richards, and Boss pedals.
Ease of Use:
No big deal. Level, tone, bottom, distortion, and gain. Use your ears.
Customer Support:
Well Brian is always friendly and responds quickly to emails. Quite helpful. I've learned quite a bit from him.
Overall Rating:
1. play hard rock/alternative 2. playing since midget-hood 3. If stolen I'd buy a DS-1 or one of Boss' dandy overdrives 4. It's just a muddy, lifeless pedal. Solid state at it's worst. 5. It is the Indyguitarist BD-2's BITCH. 6. Never try an MD-2 again. It's poopariffic. 7. I hated twiddling with the knobs for hours. Like spraying air freshener of a pile of doggy-doo.

Just slightly noisier than my Keeley MT-2. Nothing my noise suppressor can't handle. I use this on a Fender Hot Rod 410 on the clean channel. I play through an Epiphone Les Paul with '57 classic pickups, and a Gibson Gothic SG. Sounds great with both guitars, slightly darker on the SG.
Reliability/Durability:
Boss. No Brainer.
Ease of Use:
I was not sure what to expect out of this pedal. The sound is terrific, a lot better distortion than the one I tried at Sam Ass. Not as flabby. Ther is a switch that boosts the mids. I prefer this setting. Just dime the dist. and gain, and adjust the tone to taste. The tone controls are much more responsive than stock, does take some time to dial them in right.
Customer Support:
Never dealt with. I doubt this department exists.
Overall Rating:
I play a little bit of everything, and I needed a good heavy distortion without so much metallic biteFits the bill and my budget nicely.
