I'm running this setup up now: Hand-built Triple Humbucker Telecaster, Boss Metal Zone, Maestro FSH-1, Danelectro Reel Echo, Electro Harmonix Small Stone, DOD Pyshoacoustic Processor, Create GT212 120watt amp w/ custom built cab. The Maestro is only a wee bit noisy, but not very loud. When a distortion is turned on, the Sample/Hold becomes louder, but still has added effect in itself. The envelope filter is fun to mess with, providing get range of sound. The only band i've ever heard use this effect was The Mars Volta, and they used it for about 15 seconds.
Reliability/Durability:
this thing is a brick, litterally. It's heavy and solid, unlike most effects out there. It does happen to use 2 9v batteries, which is a slight pain when it comes to replacing them.
Ease of Use:
This things is relatively easy to use, but you need time to get used to working the knobs and such. I found that the knobs were pretty selfexplanatory, but it's a vintage effect, so fiddle with it.
Customer Support:
I do believe they don't exsist anymore...maybe thats why they cost alot?
Overall Rating:
This thing is amazing. It has such a diverse sound that i haven't heard from anything except a Moog product. They quility is unmatched by anything i've heard. It's not too uch of a useful effect, but it's a hell of a lot of fun to play with.

a bit noisy, sounds funky, very analog and synthy as it was made my oberheim. the filter sounds great with a very wide range. the sample and hold sounds like an oberheim sem module. hooked up to a guitar this is really a cool fun effect to zone out on. this is my favorite sound on theis 70's pedal.
Reliability/Durability:
2 nine volt batteries that go fast. other than that it's built like a tank.
Ease of Use:
one switch for switching from 'filter' to 'sample and hold', one switch for on/off and 2 knobs. the first knob adjusts the filter range and the other knob controls the speed of the sample and hold. the tricky part is the internal adjustmemts that must be set just right for great sounds.

this is a great vintage toy that is very hard to find.

It's an interesting effect, if not anything else. I suppose it can find itself usefull in the right piece of music. The filter section is beautiful, a very warm analog tone. The S&H section gets a little crazy sometimes, and it will produce pops and blips at less-than-predictable volumes.
Reliability/Durability:
It has functioned since it was built, so that says plenty. The case is built stronger than an panzer tank. It's quite heavy, and does not feel like it is able to incur damage. It can take a hard stomp. If you get a little too much into the mood, it'll take the hardest stomp you have and call you a wimp. The only reliability issue is the fact the it is a battery hog. You'll get about an hour of continuous use out of the 2 9v batteries (but you would never use a pedal like this for anywhere near an hour)
Ease of Use:
Stomp switch, Filter/S&H mode switch, and 2 knobs. Couldn't be simpler.
Customer Support:
Any local music store could easily fix this, the circuit is relatively simple. If it ever dies, all the parts are very generic. This pedal will be around longer than the human race.
Overall Rating:
I don't even remember where I got this funbox. I use it for filtering keyboard sounds and to bring interesting textures into soundscapes. Its a cool toy, but if you want it, email me. I can always build another. This thing is extremely rare, it is very hard to find information on it. Does anybody else have one?
