FX91 Bass Overdrive

One thing you need to understand is that this is an overdrive in the simplest sense.  It is not a fuzz or a distortion.  When setup properly, this pedal sounds BETTER than a modded Ibanez tube screamer 808.  Which will cost you 200+ after mods.  It gives me an awesome subtle grind, think John Entwistle. I play it through a Modded Fender Jazz, an all tube Mesa Boogie bass buster, and a Mesa Boogie powerhouse 1000 (4x10 + 1x15) Buy this pedal
Reliability/Durability:
Hasn't faltered yet.
Ease of Use:
Pretty cut and dry functions.  Really simple.
Customer Support:
Haven't had to deal with them.... They're out of business.
Overall Rating:
I play Dance rock, post punk, progressive music.  Which calls for a huge range of sounds from clean bottom heavy stuff to mid heavy distortion signals.  This pedal just adds one more dimension right in the middle. I've been playing for 5 years and I'd definitely replace it if anything happened to it.

I use it with a yamaha and fender bass and it doesn't sound brilliant, it goes through a peavey cab. Since the sound is very monotonous it gets quite boring quite quickly. It doesn't sound too bad if you put a gutiar through. hmmmmmm
Reliability/Durability:
its very reliable, seems to be built like a tank. i've always used it without a backup (but then again i can't afford a back up so i have no choice) and its never failed or brken on me. very good construction.
Ease of Use:
Its very easy to use if you just want basic overdrive, you can't really alter the sound that much.
Customer Support:
I havn't dealt with them
Overall Rating:
I play lots of different types of music, mostly metal but also blues and funk. it goes well with my metal band, but i wouldn't use it for anything else, if it was stolen i wouldn't get the same one, i'd get a multi effects unit. I have a Yamaha RBX375 and a Fender precision fretless and a peavey TKO115 combo. I like how easy it is to use, but there is no variation in sound and the tone nob doesn't seem to do anything. UP THE IRONS!

Sound Quality:
Jackson Concert Series 4 string Fender P Bass Esp F Series 5 String Gallien Krueger 700RB head with backline cabs - 1 2x10 and 1 1x15 It gave me a bit of hiss back and hum, but not enoguh to drive me insane. The effects could use quite a bit of work (perhaps look at the Boss overdrive)
Reliability/Durability:
The pedal fell of my porch (20 ft high) onto a cement patio, and it seemed ok, but it does not turn off anymore, the distortion is stuck on. I would never step on stage with this pedal, I'd rather use my Boss.
Ease of Use:
Too simple of settings- not very many sound possibilities Not bad if you just want a basic distortion though

my setup is: ibanez sr705 -- bassballs -- dod fx91 -- old vintage ranger tube stack 2x12 it is ... a little noisy, but every distorsion pedal is. when turning on the bassballs at a low decay/sensetivety.. and the turning on the FX91 .. damn.. dude.. your bass sounds like a fuckin beast. the effect has a volume pot.. so you can make it as loud as you want.... you caouls also use is ass a volume boost.. when you turn the tone/drive and uhm.. the belnd fully down. i can get some sound with it.. but it doesn;t have a sound for every situasion... you really got to like this pedal.
Reliability/Durability:
nope.. can;t depend on this peasy of crap.. it's not well disigned.
Ease of Use:
get a good sound of it? well.. if you want a distorsion, its oke,, but you can;t get a mild drive out of it. i havent got a manual with it. and the bedal isnt that well designed,, somethimes it happend you just have to kick 70 times to get that stupid thing on. but hey.. when  it's on,.. shit can get nasty, and that's what i like :D
Customer Support:
??? don;t know
Overall Rating:
it's okay is you want some chainsaw distorsion ... it sounds nice on my fretless... but i was more looking for an extra fat tube drive overdrive.. to make my stack sound really creamy.. but hey,.. i'll just have to save some money to some EBS stuff.. there expensive,, but hot!
