I use a casino stage series stratocaster and some bassking thing. the noise is minimal on pretty much all the settings. The effects sound good most the time, just as long as u don't turn the presence all the way up or down.
Reliability/Durability:
My pedal has dies quite alot of times, but i've been using since i was 8 (i'm 15 now) and it only started being weird when i was about 12. I probably wouldn't use it at a gig unless i had a backup, but once upon a time i didn't have a choice, so it's pretty dependable if need be.
Ease of Use:
It's pretty easy to use. Getting a good sound takes abit of tweaking but when u get the right sound damn it's good.
Customer Support:
they have those?
Overall Rating:
I like to run it with my legacy DS-100 distortion for really awesome leads, but it causes alot of feedback that way.

I bought my pedal used for $20 a couple of weeks ago. I am pleasantly surprised by the quietness of the unit. Also for recording into my mbox it provides a warm fuzz-like tone. However, it does not sustain super long like my big muff.
Reliability/Durability:
Even with age and the cheap build. The switch is still nice and easy.
Ease of Use:
Even though it looks simple you will need to twiddle the knobs (level, presence, distortion) to find your sound. I also have found this to be true with other DOD pedals

Overall Rating:
For the value and old school analog sound this pedal can add a unique sound to your collection. I recommend snatching one up.

very good low end. find the sweet spot and chords can be made to ring out like a bell. great for palm muting , plenty of balls. get the set up right, not just the pedal, but the amp also and a decent sound is possible. get it wrong and it will suck as$.
Reliability/Durability:
gigged with it many times as main sound. no other effects. never failed .bought used back in 92 and used loads. Plastic switch can be temporamental, requiring a definite hard push sometimes to turn on/off. of course the battery cover went AWOL many moons ago. taped up the hole. power supply used.
Ease of Use:
easy. find your mids. back off the fizz. you're set.
Customer Support:
never dealt with them.
Overall Rating:
its worth having just to experience the bottom end that it can produce thru good speakers. it will kick you in the goolies. better design on battery door would have been a plus. but i aint whingeing. its earned me what i paid for it many times over. if it were stolen, i wouldnt go on a mission to find one again, but if came across one dirt cheap then, sure, id pick it up.

I find this pedal great for recording.....on an akai gx4000d for the rythm track and a wah pedal in front of it for the lead track. I now have an rp50 which is pretty cool (I just got it) and experimenting withn it now.

hello all,.....I,m trying to find the schematic for the fx56 (not the 56B). I had found another one which was broken after giving my brother mine to use (which I think ended up in a pawn shop HA!..that chump!) ...and labeled the wires with numbered stickers 1,2,3etc. ...and unfortunatly the next day when I went back to work on it the stickers had unattached from the wires leaving me not knowing exactly where they go! if anyone can send me a schematic, by email (
weav5@hotmail.com
) or crack open the back of one and scan it scan it I would greatly appreciate it!!!! trying to find the schematic has been a giant Pain In The A**
Customer Support:
I've never had to call them for these pedals always worked for me,...I did'nt know they were even upgraded (the fx56 maybe?/probably?)
Overall Rating:
I like the great low bass end and the great sounding distortion,...the level I could do without and don't even use...

I am using this with a Charvel Predator into the clean channel of my Marshall JCM2000 TSL100 Head. It isn't very noisy, i won't go as far as saying there's NO noise, but it is minimal. At first i wasn't greatly impressed with the tone i was hearing, but after a good tweaking session between the pedal and my clean settings, I was pleased with the sound i was getting. The secret to getting good tone from this pedal is to tweak with your amp settings as well as the pedals till you find your answer. The presence knob is probably the most important of all the three in reaching your desired tone, on 0 the sound is overly bassy and stupidly thick sounding, on 10 the sound is insanely screeching treble that makes my ears near bleed. All settings in between are basically a desired mixture of the two. You have to tweak with it till you get the sound you want, but this is all very easy. This thing is really more versatile than its name suggests. I can get the sound of all the classic 80s metal bands, but also a lot of experimental sounds, and grunge tones are there if needed. There really is a lot to this pedal, anyone who wants a good time creating crazy and extreme tones as well as more traditional sounds should try this pedal out. If you need an explanation of the level and distortion controls, then just use common sense and look at the words! But yeah, this thing can do Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Anthrax, I think you get the idea!
Reliability/Durability:
Hmmmmmmmm, this thing looks quite dodgy! Don't stamp on it like you do your Boss pedals. The pedal itself looks quite sturdy, but the switch is plastic, so be careful! I don't suggest paying anymore than about £20-30 for this, as if you pay more than that and it dies on you, you'll be very angry! I don't think I'd gig with this at all, let alone without a backup, unless they were still in production and readily available. If you want a pedal to gig with, get the Death Metal pedal.
Ease of Use:
This thing is very easy to operate, you can't do much wrong with 3 knobs! The level control is how loud you want the effect, the presence control is just kind of a tone control, and the distortion, well, you get the idea, the pedal ain't designed for einstein.
Customer Support:
Don't know, never dealt with them, although I have doubts as this pedal is no longer in production.
Overall Rating:
If you haven't guessed yet, my main love in music is metal, and this pedal does its job well. I am confident though that people into other styles will like this pedal as well, but I wouldn't recommend paying a lot for this pedal, as it seems very delicate. I'd buy it again cheap, but not for anymore than I paid for this one, and I wouldn't use this for a gig if you like beating the hell out of your gear.
