Well this pedal is certainly lo-fi-ish. It is a 12-bit digital delay (NOT ANALOG), and you can hear the signal degrading with long feedback settings both in tone and in bit depth. The infinite loop option is awesome. If you are into space rock or shoegaze you will find this function very handy. If you are a Slowdive fan and has seem Neil Halstead live, you might have seen his dual-pedal Digitech delay thingy. Well the FX9 is like the scale down version of that. You can create some beautiful and grungy soundscapes with it, and the other awesome thing is that turning the delay knob around changes the playback speed and pitch of your loop, and your delay signal for that matter. Anyway, I'm giving this pedal a rating of 6 not because it sucks but because, technically the sound quality is really lo fi and grungy, which is why I love it.
Reliability/Durability:
Well I had one, one day put in the wrong voltage with my radio Shack adapter, and it's been acting crazy ever since. I have another one which I take care of way more :) But it seems pretty relaible. I've had the other pedal (the replacement) since 1991 and it still works.
Ease of Use:
This is a simple to use pedal. You have knobs for level, delay time, feedback or regen, and delay mode. It also has a loop mode of about 1 second.

i was given this pedal by a friend as it was half working, now it works fully. although the majority of dod stuff is really bad, the law of averages says sooner or later they woyuld actually do something decent. this is that pedal its analog and with its own style, i run this with a dd3 and a art reverb box as well as allsorts of stuff.i use this on our psychedelic stuff.
Reliability/Durability:
i got it broken the switch is still tempramental
Ease of Use:
three dials. go on count them.

i play godspeed, slint, flaming lips and experimental music i like the way that because it is analog it has great runaway feedback on it i dislike the hissing but then agian it is analog overall a useful pedal possibly the only one dod ever made, although people may laugh because you own a dod pedal it is worth it.

It's old, probably from when DOD first started with their current pedal shape. I am assuming that this is a first attemt at digital, and that's why I got it. I didn't want something perfect and exact. I got it to use as a reverb substitute for my SOVTEK MIG100 tube amp, since the amp doesn't come with one. It sounds OK, but not really what I wanted. I can get some really DEVO-ish synth sounds from it 9like I said, it was probably an attempt at a ditigal pedal) but I really don't use it except at a reverb level, and to me it is a bit lacking.
Reliability/Durability:
It's a DOD, and if it lasted this long, it will stand up to me... don't know about the battery cover though, most pedals really suck when it comes to the battery cover.
Ease of Use:
This thing only has three nobs, Mix, Repeat, Delay. Pretty basic delay pedal. You have to try a bit to get a good sound.
Customer Support:
Never dealt with them, they would probably have to search the old files to know about this thing.
Overall Rating:
It is a pretty good pedal. I got it becasue I wanted a more "surf" sound and like I said, my amp only misses on reverb to be perfect. I was thinking about instaling a reverb, but then I would mess with the amp and I rather not. I play more Sonic Youth and Pixies type stuff, some surf and Ramones mixed in. I wanted a Ibanez Analoge delay, (the same as Lee from sonic yourh uses) but I never though about getting one until the music store sold the used on that they had for 2 years, doh! I lately have been lookinh for a Electro-Harmonix memory man, but they cost around $260 new. This thing works OK, but if I have the oportunity to get a memory man or an equaly good analoge delay for under 100 , I'll trade this one in...
