i use a 94 ibanez tc-530 (talman with 3 Kent Armstrong lipsticks) and a 25 dollar pawn shop "applause" kag-10 solid state amp that sounds better than most tube amps and sometimes through a peavey reknown solo series. it produces little to no noise of its own as long as you scrape the paint from the inside of the housing where the jacks are mounted and make sure to tighten the poo poo out of the in and out jacks. I have had this thing for god only knows how long and never really thought it was better than sliced bread until I tried using something other than it. Wow i didn't realize all the other stomp boxes out there sucked so bad! i just recently picked of a TS9DX and after some modding i can get it to sound close to the Juice box but still not as good. I think the best way to describe this pedal is to say that it is what a good tube screamer should sound like. The only thing i like better is the distortion channel on my cheap korean amp. Seriously if you run across this pedal though, tell me about it so i can buy another one.
Reliability/Durability:
hasnt broken yet other than the input and output jacks being loose, but that's an easy fix.
Ease of Use:
4 knobs one stompy switch. you'd have to be a total retard to not be able to figure it out.
Customer Support:
never had to deal with them
Overall Rating:
I play mainly rock, blues, surf, alternative, and metal and it works for all of them. i do use it in conjunction with other distortion though for metal and alternative stuff. If it were stole i would definitely cry until i got another one and would insist that if the criminal was caught be castrated in public. it is way better than a tube screamer and i am a die hard ibanez fan. i think i originally bought this pedal to replace the distortion effect from my ibanez pt-3(which was the best pedal ever) when it took a **** on me.

After reading all reviews I was curious if I could get Danny Gatton sweet sound without having my amps crank at 10, so for 50 buck I maked a guess and order it on ebay, what is great about that pedal is that you can match your original sound and then after just had subtle Juice (overdrive) to get some extra grit.To acheive what I was searching for is using the FX-51 with a Boss sustainer CS-3 Monte-allums opto mod to get extra sustain, this is a really great match for doing that. I also us it sometime with Hughes & Kettner Replex echo to get more bite in some rockabilly song. all my effects go through a Peavey Classic 50 115 or VOX AC30.
Reliability/Durability:
I place that pedal in my pedal board and after 3 show the rubber back pad came off so I would suggest to remove the rubber pad and place the velcro directly on the metal case.
Ease of Use:
Realy easy to use: 1:volume 2: base 3:treble 4:overdrive

I play fingerstyle for 31 years, my setup is :Boss TU-2,Boss CS-3 mod,Boss DS1 mod,Boss SD1 mod,DOD FX-51,Replex Hugues&Kettner, Rocktron Cyborg reverb,VOX vibrovox. I'm using a Gretsch Round up and a Warmoth Telecaster Custom made.If it where stolen I would certainely buy another one, if you like to play clean and want more edge without changing your tone this is a really good choice for the price.

This pedal is meant to add to your already distorted sound without taking on too much of a sound of its own, so everybody's settings are going to be different depending on how they allready have their amp set up. I had my amp's distortion set up close to a tube screamer sound with a little more balls, chunky but transparent. I play a protone strat through a Fender M-80 head, and if you've ever played an M-80 you know that it's Fender's war machine: it can go from slightly distorted to all out metal with a lot off bass and a good amount of high end bite and no bass/treble eq. The Juice Box is meant to enhance your distortion, it sounds like crap on its own. I have mine set with the bass a little higher than the treble at about 4 o'clock and the gain low around 10-11 o'clock. With single coils I get a fat, sustain-soaked creamy overdrive. Same settings with humbuckers gets a lot more bite. So it's totaly dependant on your set up and it doesn't allways sound good like people say it does. It takes some tweaking to get what you want, but you'll have it in all of about 5 minutes and it's so so worth it.
Reliability/Durability:
There are some cheap plastic parts here but they're still all original from whenever they stopped making these. The battery cover is just a mistake though, and the plastic stomp has me leery- I've been pretty brutal on many a rugged Boss pedal- but it's nothing to worry about if you take care of it. Eventually I will buy a backup.
Ease of Use:
People like to complain about the names of the knobs but anybody with a decent set of ears can figure out what they're for: sweet= volume, pulp= bass eq, tang= hi eq, juice=gain. It's all in the manual for the less patient and hard of hearing. The manual also has a few settings to get you started but in my opinion why waste your time.

This is a great pedal for what it does and if it were lost or stolen I'd be looking for another one. It makes me want to play. I was stuck in a bluesey folk rock phase and this pedal has opened up some inspiration. Not that it isn't also great for that chunky blues riff or creamy solo. The only beef I have on this pedal is that it lacks some volume that could put it completely over the top, but I'm just one of those guys who can never get enough. It'll never be lous enough, thick enough, sweet enough, or juicy enough but with the Juice Box it's about as sweet as it gets.

Firstly ... yes, there is some noise when you crank this thing, but that is just what happens with overdrive type pedals ... and unless your amp is quite noisy to start with, it's just a gentle back ground hiss ... no problems. Now, to business: this thing is a truly great little pedal. I use it basically with a Fender American Deluxe Strat and a Marshall AVT100 ... often I also use BOSS TR-2 and a Crybaby 535Q ... occasionally I also use the Epiphone Les Paul Plus. The Juice Box does exactly what the name suggests; it squeezes a bit more juice into your tone ... and it does it bloody well! On already overdriven tone, this thing just brings every note alive ... absolutely nails the SRV sound if you set your amp & pedal in proper balance ... you can go from soulful blues wailing to screaming heavt metal, all depending on how dirty your amp is and how much 'JUICE' you use ... you can get so much sweet, sweet sustain! Lots of tones available, thanks to the LOW/HIGH (PULP/TANG) knobs ... you can go from hollow sounds to very mid-rangey tones to just all up cranked all because you have that extra knob. Also, it sounds pretty good as a mild crunch pedal on its own ... so it's got lots up its sleeve to keep you entertained.
Reliability/Durability:
I've only had it about a week, so I can't comment ... it is a DOD, so I will plan on looking after it in case the battery cover falls of ...
Ease of Use:
Simple ... four knobs ... even with the funny names for the knobs, anyone should be able to figure what they do in just a few seconds ... LEVEL, LOW, HIGH, GAIN ... easy.

I play mostly blues, classic rock, psychedelia and everything in between ... and I've been playing for nearly 7 years. This is the best pedal I have owned yet (out of at least 10 others) ... of course I'm soon to get a Teese Real McCoy Picture Wah, which is arguably the best going around. I honestly can't wait to hear the Juice Box in combination with the McCoy and a decent tube amp (which I'm currently hunting for) ... it sounds great with the so-so Marshall, so I'm dying to hear it played through valves. This thing makes me want to play ... it actually seems to lead my fingers to new territories of taste and soul, because I have such wonderfully tasty amounts of tone and sustain available to me now. A great pedal, pity they don't make them anymore ... perhaps this is the Tubescreamer of the next decade ... BEST CHRISTMAS GIFT I EVER GOT!

Ite the Bomb! If you see one[discontinued] BUY IT IMMEDIATLY! I seen this one in a pawn shop, been looking for new OD Pedal. My Visual Sound RT-66 was stolen. Then I ran across this, I remember hearing something about it, I just didn't remember what! I thought it was a Chourus Pedal. Anyway I passed it by, went home and read the reviews here. Needless to say, I ran back and bought it immediatly for 25.00 bucks, BEST 25 I EVER SPENT on a OD-PEDAL! Really! Listen its easily worth three times that, no-problem! I like it BETTER than the RT-66. And I used that for YEARS! Not as noisy! Very transparent, I started with all dials at 12noon. At that point I had to shut off the pedal to see if it was working, or if that was my AMP? It was on! Just a little dirtyer than my amp at that point. From there I tried all the dials in different settings and kept goiung back and shutting down the pedal to see exactly what it was doing. VERY VERY SWEET PEDAL. Its what I look for in a OD, being able to clearly hear chord and note definition. Not to add problems to my signal. And to be quiet? It does all that. It sounds very much like the RT-66. I was going for the Tube-Screamer re-issue next. Glad I found this! I also bought a Digitech Blues-Sceamer. Thats going back to GC. Its not bad, but a little noisey and a liitle to digital sounding. Man was this DOD a find.
Reliability/Durability:
I had 1 other DOD pedal a few years ago. A Delay/Sampler which I really liked and sshould have never sold. I know they get trashed alot. And I only played two of them. But both were VERY GOOD in my opinion. Its a used pedal? Hell its quiet, looks brand-new, lasted this long? I guess it will be OK.
Ease of Use:
Oh its easy to use. Had to figure out for myself what sweet, pulp, tang, juice, meant! Out of all the reviews here, you would think ONE PERSON would have explained. Oh one did, and read his manual and still GOT IT WRONG? Damn? Whats up with that? Anyway here it is folks. sweet=volume, pulp=bass, tang=treble, juice=gain. Besides that step on the pedal, its that easy to use!!
Customer Support:
Don't Know?

IF you see one buy it! Or E-Mail me and I'll buy it REALLY!!
