Not bad on noise, controlled insanity. I love using this with my t.c. chorus to get a sick pungent stench tone.It will deliver the goods, definately beats the boss bass dist and overdrives.Kills em. I use Modulus 5 with EMG pickups and the sound is soooo phat!It will squash any guitarist if you crank through an SVT like me. Thats right I prefer to let this thing distort cuz thats what its made for, gives you rich harmonics that a tube overdrive falls short. For you die hards out there pinch harmonics sream out of your bass too.
Reliability/Durability:
Mixed emotions here, its the on/off switch you've got to worry about. They quit working after so long. Lot of guys won't work on pedals cuz they say your better of just to get another, too bad they don't make this one anymore. So I bought an extra one as soon as they went out of production on the b grunge.
Ease of Use:
Easy to get a functional distortion out of this one.It crunches real well,so well I  even think about canning the guitar player if I ran this this stereo with a dry mix on one side and distortion through the other. Oh well miy as well let the marshall guy try to crunch me. I love cranking this fu##er and blowin up his sh#t.The thing I like is that it lets you mix your original signal and blend the distortion to that. Almost like a blendable effects loop.

I recomend this to any bass player that playes punk, thrash, death,or even classic rock. Maybe too much distortions for some old die hard overdrive folk, but I love distortion on bass. Thank you Cliff Burton R.I.P. Please come back and slap the shit out of Kirk,Lars, and James they ruined your vision. Sue me Lars!

Don't let the name fool you.  Probably the best Bass distortion I have used.  Has a very nice grind to the distortion of which can the high end can be tempered with the High EQ so that it mixes well with the Clean signal.  The best part of this pedal is that you can get a really usable distortion sound and mix it perfectly with your clean signal so that you have a really nice heavy sound without loosing your bottom end.  A really great feature is the the unaffected out.  I have found it works great to run my unaffected out to one amp eq'd for heavy bottom, and another eq'd for the Distortion.  I also add my effects like wah chorus flange phaser to the distorted out so that I retain my heavy bass tone while adding effects.  This comes in really handy if you are in a power trio, you can make your bass sound like two instruments; a low grinding guitar and a bass.  Or you can just blend your sound till you get a perfect meaty tone.  I also use this pedal with the blend almost at 7 oclock for use on fretless.  It just adds a nice little harmonic content that emphasises the fretless MWAAH sound.

Ease of Use:
Goofy knob labels, but if you have half any ear you can figure them out.   Moron -Blend, Dope -High EQ, Retard -Distortion, Mommy -Level. Ok, those aren't the real ones printed on the pedal, pretty close though eh? Anyway those are the real parameters that I determined.

Overall Rating:
One of the best deals around right now for Bass Distortion/Overdrive.  I got mine for $15 off ebay.  Much better drive sound that MXR DI or Sansamp BDDI.  Although I usually use mine in front of a BDDI for recording.  The OD on the sansamp just didn't do it for me.  My favorite setting is Blend 8oclock, Treb EQ 12oclock, Drive Max, Level 2oclock.  As you can see I keep the blend fairly low and the distortion high, that is the key.  That allows you to have lots of bottom end plus a nice amound of grind.
