I'm using it with a Gibson SG, with a PAF+ Neck pickup and a Tony Iommi at the bridge. Also, I use an American Deluxe Strat with EMG pickups. Both guitars are going through the FX80-B > DOD 460 Mini Chorus > Marshall VS8040. The effect has minimal noise in this configuration. The Gibson pickups don't produce much noise and the EMGs are dead silent, so there is not much noise for the compression to boost. Putting a distortion or overdrive box before the compressor would produce a bunch of hiss and noise, which is why you are supposed to use compression first in the effects chain. I don't mimic the sound of other artists. If I want to hear the sound of my favorite artists I'll put down the guitar and pick up my iPod. The unit really makes my setup shine. I use it to subtlety even out the signal and get some added sustain. It is not harsh or squashy unless you get extreme with the settings. I like the sound better than the Dynacomp (especially for the price) and it is much easier to use than the rack mount Behringer that I was having to use for compression. I use it as a set-it-and forget-it pedal. It stays on whenever I play and I would no longer consider playing with out it.
Reliability/Durability:
DOD FX series pedals can have troublesome switches. Mine does not have any trouble yet, but statistically it probably will eventually. I had the FX series graphic eq and the switch had a mind of its own. I thought it was funny...for a while anyway.
Ease of Use:
Patches? We don't need no stinkin' patches! This is a DOD FX80-B Compressor/Sustainer. It has three knobs and a foot switch. Level, Release and Compression. It is very easy to get a good sound if you don't start out trying to put every knob on eleven. Bought used; No Manual.
Customer Support:
I've never tried it.
Overall Rating:
I've been playing since 1979. The DOD is the first Compression pedal I have owned. But I have used, borrowed and rented others including:Boss, MXR and Ibanez. The DOD is definitely a match for my sound. The others are all good, and maybe better depending on the application, but I think the DOD has a more natural sound to it. Compression is a must have for most electric guitar applications. It is unfortunately very overlooked by most amateur guitarist. The DOD FX80-B is a very good compressor compared to others that are much more trendy and more expensive. If it were lost or stolen I'd get back on eBay and find another one.

I'm using my ever trusty,2006 Fender MIM Sunburst Strat and my Crate GX-65 combo. This pedal actually improves the tone on my amp and makes the clean channel louder.I'm not a big effect person, but this pedal solves a lot of my problems with getting a great tone.
Reliability/Durability:
Well I just got it today,so I don't know how it'll hold up at a gig,but I'm sure that it'll do just fine.I feel I could use this without any backup at all.
Ease of Use:
This pedal has 3 settings,Level,Attack, and Compression.I bought this used so,it didn't come with the manual, but I was able to download one at DOD's website.
Customer Support:
It was easy to get the manual from their website, but other than that,I never had any need to deal with the company.
Overall Rating:
This si avaluable addition to my set up.As I mentioned,I'm not big on effects.I actually prefer to plug straight into the amp and let er' rip! This is a godsend though, because the clean channel on my amp is only 58db,while the distortion is 110db,so this will definately help out with giving a little boost to my clean channel without affecting the tone on the other channel.I would definately get another one if anything happened to it.

1. For Hi-gain , Good for compress sound and it give me long sustain for every note. 2. For clean sound , if I lower my volume of my guitar I have to switch it off because if it still on it always add volume to sound.
Reliability/Durability:
I gig with it for 10 years . It still good condition. The con is its adaptor jack , I don't like this kind of it.
Ease of Use:
This is easy pedal , just three knobs. I like playing legato technic then I need the stable sound of. I put it before Boss HM-2 then go to clean channel of Fender The-Twin. Tons of tone go from this set up.
Customer Support:
Don't know. Never contact them.
Overall Rating:
I play in rock to metal .It suite my style. I also have Boss CS-1 that have slower attack than FX80-B, when I play harmonic whammy , the Boss sound like slowly increase volume. For me FX80-B sound better that the Boss CS-1.

Clean as it needs to be...makes my amp seem much more aggressive than before and I could get through a whole show with no other pedals at all. I have a 1978 LP Custom into an Ampeg J12-T with EL84s and 12AX7s. I get to run the amp hotter than I normaly could cause when it's on due to the squash factor.
Reliability/Durability:
The one I used has seen better days, but I put a new battery in there and away we went. Switch is broken, but that's an easy fix and I won't take a point off for something that's been stepped on a zillion times.
Ease of Use:
Has to be a 9...cause nothing's a 10 but this a solid 9 for sure. If you can plug cords in, you can get a good sound out of this thing. Set the level to match the amp, dial in some comp, and decide how long you want the pedal to keep the comp on. That's the release function...set it low and the note decompresses quickly, and vice versa. I like this feature the best, cause you can set it to make the notes of a solo "bloom" as it gets louder right after you hold a note. Awesome.

This is my personal truth. I have tried many comps,Barbar,Dyna,Opto comp, boss,Digiech, and even more. To my ears, this very inexpensive Dod fx80-b sounds best, extreamly natural sound, I would almost sounding even better than the original tone of my guitar.
Reliability/Durability:
I have two of them, and most allways,I am looking for a used unit in good condition. It seems very well build.
Ease of Use:
Very user friendly.

Again, for me,this is the best comp I have ever come across. I have this thing on at all times.
