FX56-B Super American Metal

Garage Sale
Price:
CAD2.00 CAD

Sound Quality:
The distortion effect of it is pretty good. But you could get the same sound if you up the low-end sound on your amp using another distortion pedal. But it does have a good, heavy sound.
Reliability/Durability:
It has a strong casing that can take quite a bit of abuse.
Ease of Use:
A good heavy kind of sound. As long as you aren't close-minded about the knobs, it'll be fine.
Customer Support:
I, uh... bought it at a garage sale. The guy was nice.
Overall Rating:
For such a cheap price, this is a great pedal. It's like having a bass hooked up to a distortion pedal, while still sounding clear but crunchy.

Just want to say that with every effect you get or patches that you've got on your multi-fx pedal you can get many varied sounds if you just MOVE THE CONTROL KNOB on your guitar...experiment with that and you'll see that most of the things/pedals/fx that you called useless & hopeless crap might get a new life. On my guitar I only have a humbucker at the bridge (Hot Rails) with a volume knob and a tone knob with a modified pot to make it bypass the tone. Remember to experiment not only with the controls on wathever fx you're using and you'll see what i mean...This DOD can play crunchy tones too, even with a high gain pickup like mine..How bout that? ;) Iam giving it 7 because it has 4 distinct sounds that I really like.. There's one that really reminds me of Entombed
Reliability/Durability:
Its sturdy, wont break
Ease of Use:
Its really easy to use but its also easy for the end user to get too carried away and put every knob to the right and say that the pedal sucks. Anyway, thats how ended up getting the pedal from some guy who hated it.

Rock, Metal, Bluesy sounds.. For clean sounds you can use this as a pre amp gain, it gets your clean sounds warmer

8...Probably because when you turn the presence up, it squeels like a little girl...if not worse.....everything else KICKS ASS!!! turn down the presence almost all the way and turn up the bass completely with the distortion on full..it really kills then. almost has an old metallica sound to it...
Reliability/Durability:
yeah. never had problems with it...ever!  of course, being the electrician i am, i hardwired a wall plug to the 9volt battery plug.  i love this pedal.
Ease of Use:
IT was simple...seriously...any idiot can use one of these.
Customer Support:
Never had to call, so its N/A.
Overall Rating:
This is good for the old metallica sound, i seem to like this pedal very much, i would reccommend this to anyone...i have no idea how good it is for solos because im a rhythm guitarist...dont really do that much with it...so it works good!  sounds good for tremolo picking too...

i just have the highs and lows up and the mids about a quarter. when i have the volume up and i arent playing it makes an annoying shriek.the basic sound i think is pretty good.I have a digitech rp200 and this pedal gives a completely different sound. I havent been able to get any specific sounds out of it but it holds its own
Reliability/Durability:
it is defintiely sturdy. the only thing i dont like about it besides the shriek is the battery. i can't get the bypass to work. it's either heavily distorted or just strings vibrating.
Ease of Use:
just volume, lows, mids, and highs
Customer Support:
i've only been playing for 2-1/2 years and it hasnt been needing any fixing by any means
Overall Rating:
i play rock(mostly MetallicA)it works fine for me.I got he bass and amp about april or may of 2001.I got a Ibanez rg120 for christmas last year and was playing seek and destroy at 4 in the morning. I probably wouldnt bother getting a new one. the power of cheese compells you.
