I play a combination of 80's heavy metal meets grunge meets modern rock. All going through through a 1988 Carvin X100B half stack, two G&L Rampage Jerry Cantrell reissues (ivory and black) DOD FX60 Chorus, Biyang AD10 (Baby boom series), Ibanez WH10 wah, MXR smart gate, and an AMT B1 (Bogner in a box!). I don't always use my AMT B1 though, because the Carvin already has a killer dirty channel and a very distinct character, perfect for George Lynch, Warren Demartini, early Steve Vai type tones. Basically its a hot rodded Mesa Boogie Mark 3. The B1 is perfect for a more modern sound when kicked on through the clean channel. Absolutely inspiring to the say the least of my rig. I had been looking at choruses for a while and the common thing was to spend a pretty penny, which I didn't want to do; I would do that only for dirt pedals and delays. I found this one on GC's used website and hopped on it immediately. When I finally got to plug it in, I fell in love instantly at how warm and articulate the chorusing is. Its got as very ghostly, spooky quality to it I'd say. It does a dang near perfect leslie sound (as all great choruses should) and the more conservative settings are also to die for as well. If you're looking for a lush, watery, warm chorus, the DOD is it. It has very easily and effectively taken on all my needs for what a chorus should do and gone above and beyond my expectations.
Reliability/Durability:
Well, we'll see in a while as I just got her this week. First thing I noticed was the Depth knob pot was really scratchy. As with any vintage effect, great care should be taken..especially with a vintage DOD; they should change their name to TAPBOX instead of STOMPBOX because the plate requires very little pressure to engage the pedal, just a little tap will do. Imagine of a DOD were in the hands (feet) of the wrong person, it probably wouldn't hold up well--the footswitch is pretty unusual. The casing & knobs though...are solid as a brick.
Ease of Use:
Very Very simple to use, its only two knobs. Mine is a 1985 model with the thick dials. The switche

A very underrated chorus for sure, I suppose its often compared to the CE-2 by Boss, which is an ok chorus pedal (I favored the Digital Dimension chorus), but this DOD blew me away with its warm and range of sounds..there isn't a bad setting in this box, its all usable.

One of my favaorite chorus pedals.  Only my Keeley modded Boss CE-2 sounds better to me, however this one sounds better going into the front of the amp than the CE-2.  Use a Y cable to split the stereo siglnal to two amps.
Reliability/Durability:
I love DOD.  Some people seem to have issues but I haven't.  I own Dod pedals from 1982, 1983, 1985, 1989, 1991, 1992 and 1994.  All work like new.  This Chorus is the '82 model.  Besides a few paint chips, still going strong
Ease of Use:
Great transparent chorus.  Glad they are still under the radar and cheap.  2 knobs for speed and depth.
Customer Support:
DOD rocked in the 80's and 90's when the products were USA made.  Haven't tried any of the chinese crap.
Overall Rating:
This is a great match for any music where you want to "cut through" the mix a little bit.  Definatley adds presence and brilliance to signal.  Speed pot offers a wide range.  Super value!!!  2 knob pedals rule.

Lets see? Les paul Standard, Fender American Big Apple Strat, Fender MIM Strat, Les Paul Junior... Play through a Twin Reverb or a vintage Gibson Class A tube amp. I think the effect is clean and strong. Not fake but a vintage type Chorus. I Originally got this in 1983 for a Rhodes piano to get a Leslie sound out of and it actually worked back then. Well I still have it and it sounds just as good. For the bucks, what more could you ask for?
Reliability/Durability:
Bought brand new in 1983 and still in use.  Nuff said? No need for back up.
Ease of Use:
As others have said, the FX60 has just speed and depth. Simple IN and Stere Out if wanted. Nice bright on/off LED. Slightly larger than my BOSS pedals. Small pin for adapter input is not same as my other BOSS pedals but more secure.
Customer Support:
Never needed.  Does us battery up more than usual but just need an adapter.
Overall Rating:
45 years--Classic Rock,  Blues, Metal, Country Rock, Original. Own Sound equipment, recording gear, keys etc.If stolen or lost I would eventually get a new one. Probably wont happen though. I love the vintageness.  Is that a word? Helps me to do songs that require chorus. I can also play songs live that usually require an achoustic guitar if I only have the electric. Not the best substitute but it provides more depth.

I could not get what I would call a satisfactory chorus sound out of it.  Though the pedal has very quiet operation, is well built and does have a pleasing effect.  I does not do very good 12 string chimey things, (i.e. boston, pretenders, etc) it can sort of do Cure stuff as it really sounds like a mild flange.  I definitely like the pedal it's not my main chorus but my backup one which is another reason I got it.  My sholz rockman is over twenty years old now.  So is the dod but I bet that will out last anything out there.  Old DOD and peavey stuff is virtually indestructible.  If it says "made in the usa" and either dod/peavey you know you can drop it from a ten story window and it will be okay.  I usually use the pedal with a marshall, strat and tech 21 gt2.  It sounds pretty good but very mild chorus.  Organic, yes.  Very analog.  I would get one of these before I would buy some new "vintage reissue" crap.
Reliability/Durability:
absolutely.  DOD usa stuff, particularly the older stuff is indestructible.  they will even still answer support questions on it amazing.  I've own vintage mxr, ibanez, boss and just about everything else.  Of all those I think I like dod and 9 series ibanez the best.  MXR were great but your dealing with stuff that's been stepped on for almost 30 years and I am real hesitant to buy the old vintage ones now would rather just go with dod sound close enough to me and I've had them all
Ease of Use:
Like a lot of the first series DOD 2 knob effects pedals it has one good sound-but that one sound is a great one.  I really like them and actively collect them.  My chorus background is I've owned a roland ce-1, boss ce-2, ibanez 9 series twin cam and scholz chorus/delay module.  I have to say the scholz is far and away the best chorus I've ever heard with no close competition.  The dod fx60 is often compared to the boss ce-2 because they look a like and have two knobs but trust me it does not sound anything like it and not the same category chorus.  I bought the dod fx60 because I collect the 2 knob DOD fx pedals and because it uses the same ICs or panasonic memmory chips as the Boss ce-2 and the scholz rock module.  The circuit must be radically different though because the chorus effect is not as good.  You don't require a manual for this pedal.  But the manual is availible on DOD websites for download.  It also explains how to operate the pedal in stereo mode by using a y cord on the output.
Customer Support:
Still answer questions on pedals they made over 20 years ago
Overall Rating:
I guess I play originals and classic rock.  I've been playing since I was five.  I used to be a pretty big vintage collector till it got stupid.  When people start paying $100 for an arion pedal because radiohead used it you know the world is upside down.  I have more common sense than that.  Vintage dealers and ebay has really buffaloed novice players it's really comical.  Mostly the baby boomers who are trying to buy back there youth.  The new stuff from china is not that bad.  Just need to try it before you buy it.  It's as good as anything I've played.  I am giving it a 10 because if you bought it new it would be hundred dollars for what your getting and I paid $19 for a like new one on ebay

sounds good clean, sounds good with distortion.  a nice, warm, lush chorus.  not overly "watery," so you won't be able to get any crazy seasick kinda sounds out of it.  (although if you combined this with a phaser, flanger, and fuzz, you'd probably make people yack out their guts in the crowd.)  i'm using it with a fender jazz bass through a bunch of pedals... haven't really had a chance to use it live yet as i just got it a few days ago.  as of yet i haven't noticed any noise.  i'm using it through an Ashdown ABM500RC EVOII and an Ampeg SVT610. sounds great!
Reliability/Durability:
i would gig without a backup.  it's sturdy.
Ease of Use:
easy- just plug in and turn knobs.  if you want stereo, get a TRS to 2 mono cable.  (they should say that right on the pedal.... it's a little confusing having one output jack on a stereo pedal)

i play many different styles, but my main gig is in a Rock & Roll trio.  we play heavy and loud.  this is one of the pedals that helps thicken my sound up so i can fill in all the gaps in the sound spectrum where things like rhythm guitar would be.  this pedal helps ALOT with that.  i've been playing for about 13 years now, and i own a buttload of pedals.  i like pedals.  if ANY of my pedals got lost or stolen, i would definitely look into replacing them.  i like them all.  the DOD FX60 is quite a nice chorus.  a good sound that is very useable and not over-the-top.  it would be easier if DOD had just used two outputs for the stereo feature instead of one, or at least mentioned on the pedal itself that you need a TRS-2 mono 1/4" cable to use the stereo feature, but..... no big deal.  every pedal has its own charm to it, its own particular sound.  this pedal is not perfectly clear in its sound, but it's not too dark or warm, either.  it's just nice.  all effects inspire creativity.  if you've got writer's block or something, try plugging in to an effect!  the different sound will probably help get those juices flowing again.
