hey what a suprise.. it sounds just like an artec crazy metal pedal! or a soloist. or a paul stanley model.. or...
Reliability/Durability:
if you buy the artec or washburn versions of this at target or walmart you can utilize the stores impressive return policies. if you buy the black metal pedal from the guy on ebay, well..what do you think?
Ease of Use:
its got some knobs. you turn them to make sound, like every other distortion pedal
Customer Support:
i emailed him. no response.
Overall Rating:
this "black metal" pedal is rebranded artec pedal with fancy graphics, marketed towards kids that dont know any better. 30 bucks for an original, 80 for one with a pentagram.

I used a epiphone Les Paul Custom through this pedal into a Line6 Spider 2 75watt combo on a clean channel. The manual suggests high output pickups but even without them this pedal gives more than any other i have ever heard or owned. The sound this pedal gives is just like it says first wave of black metal think Venom Black Metal but with just a few changes a creamy powerful attack is acheived. It is an unsaturated raw sound not suitable for more modern metal and rock styles unless paired with an eq but for power and strength it is unmatched
Reliability/Durability:
This pedal is very dependable metal casing throughout and a large rubber grip on the bass power supply is resessed slightly to avoid problems if wet. I have already dropped it and no damage was done, i'm not clumsy just over eager to get it switched on. I would definately use it in gigs without a backup this pedal will outlive me. With only 666 available it is really unreplaceable so if it was stolen i would be stuck.
Ease of Use:
I got my pedal in the post 3 days ago and haven't stopped playing with it, i even took the days off work just to sit and play my guitar which i haven't done in years. Took it out the box turned the hatred (gain) to 10 and the chaos (shape) to 9 Attack (tone) to 6 and power (volume) to 10 plugged it in and it unleashed a sound so heavy and powerful that i nearly cried. A few tweaks changes the sound a good deal so finding a balance is not difficult. A fantastic pedal
Customer Support:
I ordered the pedal online from the official site and recieved a personal email the next day saying my pedal had been shipped and that it was hand numbered on halloween which is a nice touch. The company is small so seems to treat all its customers well. Free worldwide shipping which saved me $11 which is ¿¿6 not much but still a good thing for them to do
Overall Rating:
I play heavy metal/hard rock and like the raw powerful approach to distortion so this is an ideal match for me. I have been playing for 15 years and this is by far the best pedal i have ever owned. I have used in the recent past boss metalzone & metalcore & a digitech screamin blues but this pedal wipes the floor with them. Sound quality is unmatched build quality is unmatched and such good value for money as well. This pedal performs exactly as the official website states it will. I have never heard such an amazing sound come out of one pedal truly wonderful. All hail the goat

I have a Ibanez Iceman 400 with stock pickups. Like Celtic Frost style. I play this pedal with a small randall amp. maybe 25 watts anda 10 inch speaker. The pedal is a little noisy when u switch it on, but only brief clicking sound when pedal is turned on. its a true bypass, so this is normal. the pedal is not too noisy. i don't need a noise gate or something to make it quiet down. i can get a very rotten old metal sound from this pedal. I like it. This black metal pedal has much less distortion than a metalzone or distortion factory. i use the metal zone when i play death and thrash metal. The black metal pedal is ONLY for very 80's BM like Bathory, Celtic Frost, Sarcofago, Venom and thingas like that. It is a very nasty sound and it is good. The pedal sound is not fuzzy like a metalzone sound. The black metal pedal is more like a half stack sound on distortion channel. Very raw just like the makers say. if you like black metal like Dimmu Borgir, Cradle of filth, immortal i don't think you will like the sound of this pedal because those bands use very, very much distortion. But it is ok because this pedal is only meant for old BM 80's sounds. It is very good for old Iron Maiden, King Diamond. It also sounds like kill em all metallica sound. Because this pedal is a specail collector item only. not many were made. I think this company made a nice tribute to old black metal bands. i don't think boss will ever make a pedal like this because they are scared or are christians or something. I give it a sound rating of 9. If you add a eq pedal and reverb to this pedal, it sounds very very great! then, the sound is more modern. But i mostly buy it because it looks real satanic and i just like to look at it as a display item on my desk when i don't play it.
Reliability/Durability:
I have already dropped this pedal from my desk many time! It still is working. i bought one of the first pedals when they went on sale. i am so happy to make a review here first before anybody. I think it will last a long time because it is built strong. Solid metal box. It doesn seem cheap.
Ease of Use:
This pedal controls are labeled not in a usual way. Volume is called POWER, gain is HATRED, tone is ATTACK and there is a shape dial called CHAOS. if you read the instructions paper that come inside the pedal package, it is very easy to use. I just turn up the hatred and chaos to 10 and i set the tone to however i feel. I live in apartment with old people neighbors so i don't play so loud with it.
Customer Support:
I buy it from the website and i was scared to trust at first, but they send it to me fast and i live in Brazil. I was happy how fast it come. The seller was very nice and if i have a problem, i think they have good email support.
Overall Rating:
This pedal is only meant for a collectors item and not for new metal sounds, but that is why i enjoy it very much. Only buy this pedal if you are a big fan of the 1980s black metal or heavy metal nwobhm sounds. It is great for that style but it is maybe not for a dimmu borgir sound. It is so raw sounding! but all black metal fans should appreciate it because it is how guitarsounds in the 80's were. i am happy this company make this pedal because i am almost 40 years old and i think the new wave of young players dont know much of the history of real black metal. I like it. I was in a shock when i first see it because it must be pure evil and it is!!!! The sound is very classic metal.
