sounds great, nice and warm, not shrill like the Ibanez cs-9 I got rid of,and doesnt drop in volume like the boss ce-3 I own.I also own a Boss ce-1,boss ce-2 japan, vintage mxr stereo chorus,DOD fx-60,EH polychorus. The fx -65 is as good or better than all of them except the EH polychorus and the Boss ce-1 which nothing beats. To the fool who rated it a 1,you have no ear for tone, and I have to question your experience level, maybe you'll stick with it long enough to develope some ears, maybe not.
Reliability/Durability:
I agree that the switch is rediculous but so far no problems.
Ease of Use:
boy is it easy.
Customer Support:
dont know.
Overall Rating:
I'm glad nobody likes dod because i find them for sale cheap. They sound great and their made in the USA.For all you kids out there that dont know what DOD stands for it is??????drum roll please?????????? David Oreste DeFranscesco, the founder.I think I got his last name right.I think dod gets a bad rap, because of their switches and battery cover,if you use a bypass loop pedal, you dont have to worry about the switch.Easily the best bargain in chorus pedals.I love it.

FX65 Stereo Chorus
Review By:

on 12/28/06 1:00 AM
Reviewer Background:
Purchased From:
A pawn shop
Price:
$10.00 USD
Features:
Sound Quality:
My setup is a Godin Freeway-4 Bass --> SWR LA15 100w. I put the Chorus in the chain with several other effects, and my other effects constantly switch. I really like the sound of this chorus. My only complaint is that even though it's deep and thick and very rich, it doesn't do any really slow speeds. Other than that, it's pretty nice. If you turn up the delay time and depth, and tweak the speed to the song tempo, you can get a neat vibrato effect. When I first fixed the thing and fired it up, I heard a back-and-forth sweeping sound in the background when I didn't play. If you get this sound, simply take the pedal apart and reroute the the input and output jack wires to get them away from the LFO section of the circuitboard.
Reliability/Durability:
I bought it broken at a pawn shop for $10 USD, but the only problem was a bad solder joint on the input jack. The switch is the only thing I'd worry about...DOD didn't come up with the best switching system. Other than that, it's a diecast case, and I retouched all the solder joints and neatly ziptied the wires away from the circuitboard. I have a CE-20 which I also use and can be used as a backup, but it tends to be less rich than the DOD.
Ease of Use:
Pretty easy. Three knobs - Depth, Delay Time, and Speed. Not hard to get a good chorus sound at all.
Customer Support:
Never dealt with them.
Overall Rating:
I play a lot of stuff for a lot of different people, and I've been playing for 5 years now. For the ten bucks I paid, I'm definitely going to keep this sucker around. If it's stolen, I'm not going to get it again...I can survive with my CE-20. The pros: Very rich, very easy to get a good sound. The cons: Not a very wide range of speed, doesn't cover bass frequencies (below a C on the third fret of the A string, it's not very strong...but I am playing on a bass, and they do have an FX65-B).

FX65 Stereo Chorus
Review By:

Reviewer Background:
Purchased From:
Price:
CAD85.00 CAD
Features:
Sound Quality:
I have to give it an 8. It is a simple chorus sound with no noise. I need the chorus for the 80's covers we do and it does the trick.
Reliability/Durability:
I give it 8 because I have had this for more than 18 years and it has held up. the only things I have trouble with is a knob voer is missing (top part of knob that points to wear setting is) and the stupid battery cover plate has been missing for at least 10 years -poor design Boss method is better for battery cover. But has given reliable performance over the years.
Ease of Use:
DOD = Donny Osmond Device (mfg. in US) so simple you can just use your ear to set it up no need to use manual
Customer Support:
no need for customer support
Overall Rating:
I have no idea if I would replace it. Ebay I can get one for 5.00 but I dont know if it would sound the same. I would audition for new choruses and compare with the DOD

FX65 Stereo Chorus
Review By:

Purchased From:
Price:
$20.00 USD USED

Sound Quality:
I play this with a Gibson LP DC w/ P90s and a Peavey Classic 30 amp. I bought this used for like 20 bucks and have to admit I am impressed with the sound it gives. Its the only chorus pedal I've used so I am sure there are some better sounding ones out there, but for the money, I think this one really gives a pretty acceptable chorus effect. I use it quite a bit when playing out. The most common effect I use this for is 80s hair band sound a la GNR sweet child. That is about at speed 10 oclock and delay 10 oclock. The depth knob doesn't change the sound significantly and I just keep it turned all the way up. I think if you play around with it and find a good mix you can get some really rich, nice sounding tones out of this box. No significant noise and it doesn't seem to my signal much. I am happy with that sound I get out of it.
Reliability/Durability:
Well, I bought it used and I think it has seen better days, but it seems to be holding up okay. The pedal seems to be hard to depress sometimes because I will step on it and it will change 2 or 3 times instead of once.
Ease of Use:
Simple. 3 knobs, turn them from side to side.
Customer Support:
Overall Rating:
If it were lost or stolen, I go play some others and maybe upgrade. Overall, though I think it has more than adequate sound and works great for what I use it for.
