I cant believe this is a boss.  I also use the PepTone BD-2. which combines with the TR-2 just great.  By itself the TR-2 really enhances the tone.  Its not supper noisy which most tremolos are so thats a definite bonus.  I LOVE the large rate knob to adjust with my foot as I like to "fine tune" the speed of the tremolo.  It really has GREAT vintage tone.  It has that spongy tremolo that the vintage amps have that most trem units lack.  I am not that familiar with the stock TR-2 so i am not sure what to comment on the exact changes.
Reliability/Durability:
No need for backup.
Ease of Use:
I have the modded TR-2 with Volume Knob...once you get that set, great vintage tone!  It has a large knob to adjust and tweak the speed of the trem.  It has an light that flashes to the speed of the tremolo!!!!
Customer Support:
As said, I also have the BD-2.  Both tr-2 and bd-2 are high high quality tone and everything.  Matt helped me figure out what I needed with a suggestion to get the BD-2 when I said what I was looking for...I knew I wanted the TR-2.

Great Trem Tone. I was surprised this little box can get such great vintage vibe!  I have been playing for 15+ years. I love blues.

This pedal is supposed to be less noisy than a regular tr-2. I haven't tried a regular tr-2 so I can't comment on that, but it doesn't make any noise at all! The effect a,ways sounds great, it has a nice clean sound. Matt fixed the volume drop issue and tweaked the tone to make it sound better than before. IT really does have a great tone when activated, no difference in tone when its inactive... I use it with a fernades ravelle deluxe and a marshall jcm-2000 dsl 100. Matt also adds a led light that flashes to show you the speed of the tremolo, very nice!
Reliability/Durability:
Matt gives you a two-year guarantee and he is a great guy, a man of his word. You can be sure that if anything happens he will solve it ASAP!
Ease of Use:
very easy to use, it only has three knobs. 1 for speed (which can be controlled with yuor foot!) one for wave type and one for depth (intensity). Matt also adds a switch which can boost your volume above standard volume when the pedal is engaged.

I bought this to replace my boss pn-2. I am 100 % satisfied. It solved all the problems i had with the pn-2 while keeping all the features i loved. -Change the speed of the trem with your foot using the huge rate knob -see the speed of the trem with the led -no ticking noise! -hi fi sound! -no Volume drop! -Not expensive!!!!!!!!
