I've been playing professionally for about 16 years. Toured the world numerous times and put out over ten releases, internationally. I presented Plan 916 with my predicament: I play aggressive, heavy music. Ranging from punk (Down By Law) to metal/death metal (Denial Fiend, Massacre). But asthetically, I like simple, vintage guitar designs such as LP Jr's and the Gretsch Corvette. I needed something that was able the handle the aggressive stuff I play, but visually appealed to both myself, and my audience. They came up with a body style that sits perfectly between both worlds. SG meets LP jr, but not a clone at all. Classy and menacing enough for Tony Iommi. Extremely detailed bevelling on the body just looks amazing and the headstock fits the look as well. Breakdown of the build components: Walnut neck with Ebony fret Board 2 piece Swamp Ash body PPG Black base coat with House of Kolor green pearl and PPG clear coat on body and headstock SEM Satin Black neck mated to fingerboard by hand with razor blade Tune-o-matic with Titanium saddles Motor City Pickups  wound custom for 916 with Nickle / Silver covers Schaller German tuners Military Grade vol/tone pots rated at 2 million rotations life cycle Orange dot capacitor Chrome plated brass pickup rings Cut and buffed out by hand with 4 stage polish
Action, Fit, & Finish:
You can tell that there was a lot put into this finish. It's very unique. Glossy black.. but with a green metallic/pearloid reflective quality that shows up quite nicely. Matching headstock. The neck is flat black and silky, which makes playing it a breeze. The pockets and joints are absolutely air tight. I've never seen a bolt-on neck as tight and perfectly angled as this. The neck is fairly thin. Sort of reminds me of an Ibanez Wizard neck (maybe not *that* thin). You can fly all over the place with it, for sure. Tuning stability is spectacular, which is what one would expect from Schallers. Besides the great playability and build quality of this guitar, I can't stress how great it looks. Metal pickup covers and rings.. metal truss rod cover.. it just looks very slick.
Sound Quality:
The pickups were custom made by Motor City Pickups for this guitar. The bridge pickup is HOT but defined. I needed something with the power and clarity of an active pickup, but not active. This gives my EMG's a run for their money on all fronts. The neck pickup is more vintage voiced. Can easily get blues/rock and death metal out of the same axe. Extremely versatile.
Reliability/Durability:
I've played live with it twice with no problems. I expected some possible hum from the very hot pickups, but got none. Pots are smooth feeling. I don't forsee any problems. It's about to go on a two week tour in a couple of weeks and I'm not bringing a backup.
Ease of Use:
Customer Support:
A fairly new company. Completely dedicated to customer satisfaction. No problems at all. All my needs were met in the making of this guitar. Great suggestions and execution of the idea.
Overall Rating:
As mentioned, this is a new company. I forsee them sticking around for a long time. The head luthier is extrememly capable and the company President is focused and determined to please the customer. I definitely *will* be getting another guitar from them in the future.
