I am a bassist and I love metal, chain it to disortion pedal and it sound good, it is sure to wake somebody up. but it is not suitable when you are not playing bass solo because it cut low end when it is on.
Reliability/Durability:
it is reliable and bulit like a tank. whatever how you smash it, it is still no damage.
Ease of Use:
just plug it and play it...even you are blind or deaf you do not need any manual to teach you how to use because there is only one range button! something trouble is you need to get a remote pedal or your wah would always on...
Customer Support:
no deal with cs
Overall Rating:
i bought it for 180HKD and it worths for every penny. If I lose this pedal, i would find another one,no remorse

this wah has a problem althought boss has a credibilty of durable pedals in terms of electronic this wah has a small problem when this wah is being rock  their are some choppy or static sound that could harm the speaker of the amp.this is good to combine with a boss  super overdrive and boss dmm3 delay
Reliability/Durability:
i alwyas rely on it even i don't have any spare or back up wah,if it doesn't work any more im going to modify or restore this work of art
Ease of Use:
the sound of this wah is good and a bit funky color in this wah its has a peak knob for adjusting the range of the wah. when you set this wah in max volume it sounded like a crybaby wah
Customer Support:
no comment
Overall Rating:

FW-3 Foot Wah

It is not especially noisy. It has a special "voice", it seems the range of frequencies is fairly wide (can go from quite low to very treble), yet you can still increase or decrease the Q. I recently compared it side by side to a Crybaby Dime Wah (one of the most fully featured wahs out there, based on the 535Q) and the Dime has not such a wide range, in any position. This Boss is very funky, somewhat aggressive on high freqs, and it takes out some of your lows (so it is not so good for bass guitar). Still, it manages to maintain some nice bottom end "filter" quality (which is mostly lost in the Dime if you tune the range to get more treble), and this makes it sound funkier. The Dime is milder overall, and I guess the Boss has a wider range in all Q positions (all useful and sounding good, by the way). I spent three hours last night comparing the two and couldn't decide on one, honestly. All in all, an excellent wah that beats the crap out of the recent PW-10 V-wah and other simulations.
Reliability/Durability:
Very large and bulky, feels very solid. Have had it for many years, used it live, and still works perfectly. It can be powered with the usual Boss 9v adaptor. It makes mechanical noise when you rock it, not good for recording if you have sensitive mics placed nearby.
Ease of Use:
Extremely easy. Just one know, usual on/off switch. Have had it for quite a long time.

Overall Rating:
Very good wah. Recommended for those wanting a solid wah, a bit on the aggressive side as regards to high frequencies, but funky throughout. The range of the rocker is not large, but still it manages to be sensitive enough to do slow sweeps. This review is based on several guitars with humbuckers, running through a bunch of other pedals (line 6, adrenalinn, digitech,...) direct to mixing desk.

FW-3 Foot Wah

Great...straight forward, unadulterated wah effect - a real purist's wah pedal. However, it can get pretty noisy when running through an overdrive circuit. Here's my set up: Guitar->Korg DT-10 tuner->Boss FW-3 Foot Wah->Voodoo Lab Sparkle Drive->Amp (Traynor YCV40)input -> FX Loop: Boss CE-5 Chorus and RV-3 Digital Reverb/Delay -> good sound :P The overall tone and sound quality is good overdriven or clean. A bit tingy for clean lead, but great for funk skanks.
Reliability/Durability:
As I said above...this thing is old but built like a tank.
Ease of Use:
As easy as can be. Input, output, peak frequency knob, Adaptor powered or 9V battery. (De)Activated by depressing pedal all the way down (you gotta stomp a bit more weight on it). The peak frequency provides a good range so you can have a "tight" wah or wider range so you can get a phase effect if you use it very slowly (though some complain that there is not enough pedal swivel on the axis, so it's like riding a very shallow see-saw). Using your guitar's tone control effectively tightens the frequency range as well, which is probably more convenient than bending down and turning the knob. Mine was given to me by a friend...almost a decade old and has been through a few users.
Customer Support:
Never dealt with them. Product is no longer in production and not listed on the websites.
Overall Rating:
I play everything from classical to rock. I mainly use the wah for funk skanks, phasing and wah leads. Been playing 8 years. I mentioned my gear above. If stolen I'd probably get a very similar model that is straight forward (maybe not Boss as they don't seem to have a simple model anymore!). I love it because it's so SIMPLE - no nonsense - just gives me the wah effect I need. Bless God for the friend that gave it to me since Boss has ceased its production.

FW-3 Foot Wah

I'm using it with a DOD Tec4 MultiFX, Ibanez TS7 TubeScreamer, and a Godin LG HMB and a Squier Standard Stratocaster. I don't find it noisy at all until I crank the drive really high on my setup. The wah sounds consistently good. The higher the peak setting, the stronger the wah and tone that you get when you step forward. Great sound at about 2 O'Clock.
Reliability/Durability:
This thing, as all BOSS products, has a heavy die-cast casing which I would absolutely trust to no end to protect the electronics inside. As they say, it's built like a tank.
Ease of Use:
Fairly easy to get a good tone out of. Mind you, it does come with one whole knob to adjust the peak of your wah, but I'm sure we will all manage to figure that out. I don't find that it alters the entire sound of my chain like the previous reviewer, but I guess that all depends on what you use to get that tone and how you want your setup to sound. It's a wah, so it's not like anybody is going to have a hard time setting it up. Didn't come with a manual.
Customer Support:
I have never had to deal with BOSS for any of the products I have used or bought from them. I was once sold a DS-1 with a bad pot switch by MusicStop, but they took it back immediately and gave me a few packages of strings for my trouble after I returned with it. No complaints there.
Overall Rating:
I've been playing for 2 and a half years. I own a Black Pearl Godin LG HMB, Squier Black and Chrome Ltd. Edition Stratocaster, Marshall MG15DFX amp for practice, a 50w Peavey for jamming, the FW-7, DOD Tec4 FX processor, and an Ibanez TS7 for an extra boost of gain. My favourite thing about this is that I got a decent souding wah, comparable to my old Crybaby, at only 1/3 of the cost.
