Boss XT-2 Xtortion

I use this through my Dr. Z Maz JR Head into either a Mesa 1x12 Celestion Vintage 30 closed back cab ( for smaller venues) or a Mesa 2x12 Celestion Vintage 30 closed back cab( for outdoors or larger venues)- it sounds great !! It still retains a unique sound of distortion- not your standard go-to all around use pedal- I use it on a few tunes to have a different sound. The quality imparted after the mod is tremendous- chords ring clear, definition is much improved and the nasal honk so typical in a lot of stock Boss pedals is gone. It sounds to me similar to a RAT on steroids- doesn't really ever get clean- sounds good with my American Strat or Les Paul. Can do the cocked wah distortion sound perfect- without having a wah!!!

Boss stuff is nearly indestructible- always gig without backup

It takes a little tweaking to get a great sound out the pedal- but I haven't found any bad sounds- the controls are much more usable now- stock form only had one half-way decent sound before the mod

Mark gives very good customer support- answers emails ( even his wife replied to me once when Mark was out of town playing somewhere)- he gives honest answeres to questions- doesn't try to sell you on his products outrightly and doesn't steer you to what he likes necessarily- listens to your questions and gives suggestions to achieve the tone you want

Playing for 20+ years, last 6 in an active weekend band- play 35-40 gigs a year- mostly classic rock, hard rock, some pop , some acoustic rock and instrumentals with a jazz/fusion bent- this pedal is not my go to pedal on my board ( My Keeley BD-2 Freak of the week #2- a rare pedal from early Keeley days)but it is another very cool hard rock flavor
