Boss CE2 EARGASM MOD

A great chorus sound before the mod, but it now is a lot 'juicier' and any background noise is gone. Very 'Andy Summers - Police, Dean Deleo STP, CE-1 sounding' -without all the knobs or NOISE... I listened to this modded pedal through both a Mackie Mixing console and also through live Vintage Tube Amplifiers- This Effect seems both usable with Guitar ('73 Stratocaster) as well as Bass ('85 Vintage G&L) but really exemplified the "LUSH" sound when single coil pickups ('73 Strat) are played through it. After receiving the Eargasm Mod, I A/B/C'ed it with another "untoched" stock Boss CE-2 and another Boss CE-2 which I had custom modded by Mr Robert Keeley. Although it would take an experienced "tone-freak" like myself to distinguish the subtle differences... I could hear a superior improvement with the Pedalhacker Mod- even over the KEELEY Mod!!! (anyone want to by a Keeley Modded CE-2? I already traded my stock CE-2 for a AKG Wirless system). Trying to describe the differences in words is difficult- both the Keeley and Pedhackhacker Mods had this uniquely clean/transparent tone and crisper attack (I think largely in part to replacing the stock Op Amps with Bur Brown's)than the stock circuit. The choice attributes over Keeley's were: slightly Wetter/More LUSH, better attack when using a compressor, better bass response when boosting BASS HZ's with EQ pre effects chain.  Just plain better and half the cost of wat I paid for the Keeley Mod. 

I personally inspected the solder work myself- military standards. Socketed IC chips and military-grade components were used (superior to stock items that were assembled in Japan). I've been gigging with it rough, so far no issues. Boss pedals are built like tanks anyhow, would think it is even more reliable now...

Excellent Communication skills with Pedalhacker (AKA Mike Richards) easy to get hold of him via cell phone or e-mail. Even asked me if wanted the stock or what color custom ultra-bright LED I wanted installed.

I'm well aware that I've given this review all 10's, but given that I had such high regard to Keeley's Mod in this application, and now I truly feel that I have surpassed the tone that I had before when using this effect. Pass the word on, this guy is a genius and is not out to make a killing off of starving musicians...
