Not a Marshall shredmaster but much better than my other distortion pedal, an Akai shred-o-matic. Have used it with a Crate GX60C, much smoother overdrive than the amp's own gain channel. Also used it with a Pignose 60VR - adds some serious grunt to the pig's tubes! Good pedal for early southern rock/blues.
Reliability/Durability:
DOD - rock solid - 'nuf said
Ease of Use:
Easy to use - smooth transition on the gain and drive controls. Hi/Lo eq work well.

Overall Rating:
A good pedal for someone wanting a "warm" overdriven sound. Works well with early rock tunes that relied on the amp and not the stomp box to drive!

I don't use this as my main distortion source, so my rating is based on what I use it for.. I actually use the amp's distortion (Marshall AVT50) or the DOD Big Pig distortion. What the Mystic Blue does is add this incredible warmth to my amp! Whether I'm on the clean or dirty channel, whether I'm using the Big Pig distortion pedal or not, the Mystic Blue always stays on! No matter which channel or sound I'm using, the MB just adds that missing warmth, or "brown-tone"
Reliability/Durability:
Solid as a brick, like most DOD pedals
Ease of Use:
Easy to use.. didn't bother with the manual. Just fiddle with the knobs and adjust to taste!
Customer Support:
never used...
Overall Rating:
Overall, I love this pedal. It just took time to figure out how it could enhance my sound. I bought it for the smooth distortion it was supposed to provide.. well, it didn't (at least not in a way that sounded good to me) BUT, playing with settings and plugging it into my setup, I did stumble across another use for it, the "browning" of my tone, whether it was clean or dirty, the Mystic Blue added some element that makes my sound complete.

I use many guitars, but my favorites are strats, (for the moment!). I have (2) JCM 900's for the live rig, but the recording rigs are varied. Where I really fell in love with this unit is when I plugged it into my 30 watt Marshall valve state. I could hear tubes come alive! It really gives a good bluesbreaker tone. It is quiet, so my other effects are really not effected by this.
Reliability/Durability:
I have several other DOD units and found them to be well made. The battery covers could be better, but all in all not to bad!
Ease of Use:
Its pretty straight forward. I use it "tube up" my clean channel. I have a really big rig with several overdrives,(tubescreamer, grunge, mxr distorstion +,guyatone hd-2, Boss SD-1. This unit is really straight forward. I did not look at the manual. I did not really need it.
Customer Support:
Dod is pretty helpful. I would give them high marks.
Overall Rating:
This unit stands on its own. I would highly recomend this to anyone with a solid state amp, or someone who wants to beef up a tube sound. It would be a welcome addition to any pedal board.

Nice sound! I adds lots of sustain and growl to an almost-over-the-edge clean sound, or overdriven sound. Sounds the sweetest cranked.I play it with a cheap rig, a Les Paul look alike and an epiphone practice amp. They sound ok simply because the humbuckers on my guitar are not stock...either that or the pickups are such a fluke that they're great. I've found on this overdrive that, the high and Low EQ nobs do their job well. Also that the drive and level do similar things at different levels...turn the level or gain just above zero and it's bright and thin sounding....pretty good if you like country, but it's quiet as anything, so you might want to crank your amp a bit. Turn it up a couple notches just below half way around the clock, and it get's more sparlky as it goes up with more sustain and more punch. Half way it rounds out very nicely and starts getting warmer as you turn the nob to the highest setting. However, when you want to boost an already medium high gain on your amp with this thing, it is extremely noisy. it feeds back even at the lowest volume settings on your amp. Because of the terrible noise, I give it an 8, other than that, it's a great sounding pedal.
Reliability/Durability:
I broke it a voided the warrantee doing it! Wasnt that smart of me? It's nothing major though, I could fix it myself, I just haven't gotten to it. Its actually very reliable, I was just being an idiot and had to open it up. Very reliable, hasn't had a problem yet, good quality build.
Ease of Use:
Very simple, tap the switch, and tweak nobs till you get your sound.
Customer Support:
Never dealt with them, and probably never will, I voided the warantee..
Overall Rating:
I already gave you my rig, I play mainly dirty moody pentitonic blues, lotsa solos, with a dash of modern rock, punk and even metal on occasion depending on my mood. great sound, and great value! I have not regretted buying this pedal, it really does help your sound. It adds sensitivity which helps you improve your talent. I give it a 9. It has it's flaws but the sound outweighs it so much, that I don't care.
