I own and Echoplex EP-3 and this is very close to it...both sound-wise and warmth. The only noise you'll hear is if you have the input set to the highest of 3 settings...I run it in the middle one and it's quiet. The delays are warm analog delays and are not raspy of anything. It always sounds good. I use a Mesa cab and a JSX w/412 xxx. You can simulate all sorts of delay sounds and artist sounds with these. One of the best ever delays produced. The newer stuff just doesn't contain the same componants.
Reliability/Durability:
Built like a tank, wouldn't hesitate to use it without a backup unit. No problem. These are heavy metal...huhu..he said heavy metal...Boxes with heavy switches...and most of them were built in the early 70's..and they STILL work fine..that tells the story for me.
Ease of Use:
1 switch 3 knkobs...how hard can it be? Realtime editing..haha.. Listen to it change until you get your sound.
Customer Support:
Well, I don't think Boss would have to do much here since the units are like 30 years old....the warranty is long expired..so it's not even fair to answer this one..no opinion possible.. Although, they may just want it to look at.
Overall Rating:
I play Rock, Worship, Blues and this will do any of it well. I've been playing for 30+ years. I use Wolfgang guitars and LP's USA, Fender, JSX, Mesa...+++++ I don't think I can find another one..they are very rare. I love the delays in this. Rivals my EP-3 echoplex. There's really nothing I don't like about it...I suppose the high input on the selector could be quieter, but just run it in the middle selection and it's quiet. That could be fixed with a resistor, but it's not a problem. I compare this to my other two delays..Echoplex EP-3 and a Danelectro reel echo..it's a split. I did do a review on the Danelectro on HC...amazing little unit also. One last word, these are Not available very often. I got mine by chance and jumped on it.

I run a venture's mosrite through a fender blues deville. I don't gig out with it since I've realized what a gem this is. i haven't tried out other analog delays besides the blue DOD analog delay (from the 80's), but i have been nothing less than impressed. you get the same quality algorithms inherent in Boss effects.
Reliability/Durability:
i used to be able to get a feedback loop before i realized the input jack was loose, then i tightened it... now, it doesn't feedback anymore. more people might consider this a good thing, but i liked the feedback, so i can't give it a 10.
Ease of Use:
It has all it needs

for a measly $25, it is way beyond a good deal. i didn't know (and neither did the shop) that this was worth closer to $175 when i bought it!! i'd be very bummed if it went missing and will always keep this pedal.

This is hard to answer. The sound is awesome, but the noise is the most I have ever heard. It will do slapback better than my dm-2, but be prepared for alot of hiss, and noise.
Reliability/Durability:
It is in the exact same case as a ce-1, which has lasted me along while. With the same care this should last awhile too.
Ease of Use:
Very easy, analog delay.
Customer Support:
Boss/Roland SUCK!!!
Overall Rating:
Overall this is getting a 9. The noise is too much of an issue to be a truly perfect analog delay, but the sound is even more lush than my dm-2 or dm-3, so if you can handle the noise or hiss caused by this pedal, the warm delay may just be for you. My next investment is a space echo, which should kill them all.

DM-1 Analog Delay

Ok. Im using this pedal with a Mig50 tube amp, some series '9' ibanez pedals, and a hughes and kettner tube factor. It is a very warm and lush delay. The longer the delay, the slightly  more muffled the effect sounds which is a nice thing. Does slapback delays nicely, whilst also doing useable longer delays. Dont expect ultra long 1000ms+ delays because this is an old analog pedal and won't do it. But as far as delays go, this is as nice as you'd want. Think DM-2 but older! would give it 10, but hey, nothing deserves 10.
Reliability/Durability:
Hmmm. Tough call. Very old pedal, so chances are things are going to cock up eventually. So far every thing is running nicely. Power switch dosn't work but that dosn't effect things. Because I am a delay man, I probably will get an old DM-2 or Ibanez AD-9 as a back up secondary delay. But I don't expect this beauty to break down any time soon.
Ease of Use:
Yeah... Pretty easy yo use. Straight foward. If you have used a delay pedal you wil feel at home with this pedal.
Customer Support:
Haven't needed it, and for a pedal this old I wouldn't bother...
Overall Rating:
Overall, I would say this is the vintage delay to get. It is simple to use, but hard to get a bad sound. Considering the price of brand new boss digital delays, I would seriously recomend paying that bit more for this pedal if you can find it. If you can't invest in a DM-2, DM-3, or Ibanez AD-9. If you take your delay seriously, go analog!

I use a strat, hamer sustainiac, and a kramer stagemaser archtop through a peavey 2-12,and other amps. I also use a large amount of effects in my chain. This pedal can be noisey at times on certain settings but it is the warmest delay I've heard. It can supply alot of sounds to anyones setup. This is by far my favorite analog delay.
Reliability/Durability:
It seems to be built very well but I would still only use this at home And bring something else to a gig.
Ease of Use:
It has three knobs, delay time, intensity, balance very basic analog delay. It has a switch for input level which helps reduce noise on some settings.
Customer Support:
I don't think they'd care about it they built it over 20 years ago!
Overall Rating:
This pedal is great for all kinds of music. end of story. I also own an Ibanez DELAY CHAMP which would be a much more affordable alternative, a line 6 delay, a dl10, dan echo,DOD fx96, this one beats them all in the short delay category. I would suggest this to any analog freak.
