CMATMODS performed this mod last year for me. Frankly, I've struggled for some time to dial-in just the "right" sound for me. Chad opened up the tonal possibilities with this pedal and left me with lots to experiment with. Well it happened last night!  Absolute super-saturated OD nirvana...  Incredible sustain, full bodied sound, rich harmonics. Added some more mid-EQ (I'd been cutting this back for months) and the sound just exploded! Setup: Thinline '72 Tele => Korg PB tuner => Big Crush Comp => MXR-133 Clean => Daddy-O Tri-gain Mod => Boss SuperChorus => Dan-Echo => Vox AC15CC1.
Reliability/Durability:
Daddy-O stock pedal is built like a tank. You'll read plenty concerning the pastic connections and knobs. For use in studio, I've had no concerns. Chad's mod has performed flawlessly. The pedal is quiet, even when bypassed.
Ease of Use:
Chad's mod is a clear 10 for ease of use; the 8 reflects minor inconveniences with Danelectro's original design (EQ knobs too close together). I knew this going into it.
Customer Support:
I enjoyed my experience interacting with Chad. Very responsive over e-mail and timely shipment.
Overall Rating:
Bought the Daddy-O inexpensively off ebay and followed up with this outstanding mod. I highly recommended. I read Chad's not performing this mod on the latest-generation Daddy-O's. If you're picking up a used one for modding, make sure you confirm.

This pedal modded can really get everything from a great ZZTop to Aerosmith, AC-DC,  and even great SRV blues rift by backing off the settings. I am currently using a Fender Strat, Fender 72 Thinline TELE, or a Heritage Les Paul into a DS-1(modded), SD-1(modded), , TS-9 (modded), Danelectro Daddy-O (modded), Nobels OD, Dunlop Q-zone.. into a Hughes&Kettner Access tube preamp.. into a Roland JC-120. I use a noise gate for any unwanted noises in the chain. All my modded pedals sound great and now my Daddy-O with TRI-gain mod>.
Reliability/Durability:
I can truly say that Chad does excellent mods and soldering. Tried to do mods myself and looked like a wreck on a circuit board! I have used his mods for 2 years with no problems and I'm sure that all his pedals have just as much detail to craftsmanship as the first one I had done.
Ease of Use:
Well Chad does it again. This is my 5th pedal to be modded by Chad and it really sounds great with Humbuckers or single coils. If you can't get a good sound out of this pedal then you might want to check your pickups or get a good tube amp to go with it. I had the tri gain done and what a variety of sounds you can get with this puppy.
Customer Support:
I've dealt and communicated with Chad many times. Answers each e-mail "promptly" and makes sure you are a satisfied customer!
Overall Rating:
I'm an old time rocker and this pedal meets my needs far and above. I don't play metal so don't know how it would work for metal, but definitely know it will handle most of the rock in the Buzz or alternative style.. If it were stolen, I would definitely find the culprit and hit hime in the head with it. It's a heavy duty real metal pedal. no plastic here. I chose this pedal after watching another guitarist tear up SRV with it like no one I had ever heard. Now it can do that and even more with the tri-gain mod.

To my ears this mod basically broke open the Daddy-O and filled it up with higher quality components to give it a much more responsive, musical tone with alot less noise and enough variable gain to properly drive a tube amp. It reacts to your guitar's volume so much better and interacts with a tube amp very nicely. The modded Daddy-O likes humbuckers, but also responded well to strat single coils. Sounded good with a P-Bass too. CMATMODS really rejuvinated this pedal which sounded pretty constipated and pedestrian before the mods.
Reliability/Durability:
The Daddy-O is a solid pedal to begin with, and I have no hesitation about gigging with the modded Daddy-O without a backup.
Ease of Use:
Before the mods, the gain and tone controls did very little. After the mods, the you can actually *shape* the sound and intensity of the overdrive you want.
Customer Support:
Chad is very customer-oriented and puts the time in to get the mods sounding good to your ears. Quick turnaround and very reasonable price. CMATMODS also has sound clips of the modded pedals on their site. http://www.cmatmods.com/
Overall Rating:
I got my Daddy-O used for $10, with CMATMODS I now have a killer overdrive pedal for my tele, strat and p-bass for $60 with a great, unique sound for rock or blues (prolly not for Metal). Give it a shot!
