Using various guitars into a Mesa Single Recto> Marshall 1965b cab. I bought this years ago to use as a blues/ classic rock overdrive, but for the life of me I haven't been able to get a decent tone out of it. It does sound slightly better using battery power vs. the AC adapter, but it still a poor overdrive. It is much to trebly and the level knobs sometimes seems like it has less level maxed then with the unit off. Adds way to much noise and dirt if you use it as a lead boost. Try a Bluedriver or a TS-9 instead.
Reliability/Durability:
Well, in its defense... it still works after all these years, albiet poorly.
Ease of Use:
Simple to use as any overdrive/distortion.

Overall Rating:
Not even a mediocre OD pedal, but I got it cheap way back when. I have tried to incorporate it into my rig a thousand times over the years, and have never found a place for it. I now use a Mesa Single Recto and the pushed mode on the clean channel does what this pedal should do. It is basically a paper weight now. If you don't have a good amp and need a nice OD try a Bluesdriver or a TS-9 and avoid this pedal.

Really rather a disappointing effort. I was really hoping for a bi-fet type sound like the 250 or fx-50; in fact, i was looking for a pre-amp and not a distortion. (the best sound i've got yet for sustain and drive is an old mic/phono pre-amp by realistic - however, if you don't split into both channels the thing cuts out, which in it's right could make for a great lead-kill! (The main reason I don't use this as a primary OD is because it is a stereo component, no bypass, no controls. If anyone figures out how to take that sound and put into a pedal E-mail me!)
Reliability/Durability:
Older style DOD stomper with that subtle switch that makes DOD so invaluable as a manufacturer. Unfortunately, you can't rely on it for sustain or compression - it's simply a metal masher, and even at that it's pretty weak.
Ease of Use:
Very easy to use, but the tone setting is rather tricky.

Overall Rating:
Like most of the B series pedals, this one is utterly lacking in that original burst of creativity that fuelled the sounds of the late seventies/ early eighties. Even with the boost function this pedal is still only passable at best, and really rather noisy - I wouldn't recommend this pedal to anyone but a fifteen year old trying to piss their parents' off!

I think it sounds cool with my Ibanez-GRG. I mainly use it on its own. gives you that smooth sound with a bit of fuzz in it but not as crunchy as distortion. Just remember to keep the tone in a low level like in an 11oclock direction. I think its cool for blues (does not exeed to that level though) It comes short if you use it in metal.
Reliability/Durability:
Surprisingly tough. I never thought the plastic switch will work. I believe itll be better with a metal switch.
Ease of Use:
easy! level | tone | drive

It helps me a lot in making music. Ill keep it as long as its still functioning.

I'm a bass player This is the only distortion I ever used. does get a ton of noise at high gain. Gives thats fat Cliff Burton bass solo distortion tone. There isnt much control with this pedal When the distortion is on its on, if you play with a light touch it will still be as distorted but not as loud. If you turn it on and grind out Metallica and Sabbath tunes its perfect )
Reliability/Durability:
I am still using the same pedal I bought back in 1987-88 Never had a issue. never had it piss out on me on stage. Never had a problem with the switch I have been reading about
Ease of Use:
Cant get any easier Plug it in, get your level, adjust your gain, enjoy
Customer Support:
Never had to contact them
Overall Rating:
I play a Warwick 5 string throught a SWR rig. When I need some dirty bass distortion I hit this pedal. I have been using the same pedal since I was 16 I just love the tone that comes out of this. Use this with a morley wah-wah and your will have that Cliff Burton bass solo sound... Be careful though at high gain the noise is pretty nasty and the feedback can be brutal. Add a MXR noise gate to it np np problem solved
