Sound Quality:
This thing sounds incredible. I am not tring to replicate other tones from days of old. The effect is extremly touch sensitve. The distortion is fuzzy lo-fi and gets down right nasty if you crank it to the hilt. When you back it off the magic starts. Very dymamic and sorta cleans up but not like a straight boost. You can get a ton of great sounds with just the turn of the volume and tone knobs on your guitar! This is great on any effect as it will let you carve out some really cool pet sounds that are uniquely yours. The octave effect is awsome. It can be set to be suttle or over the top and seems to have a linar response based on how hard you play. It is in my opinion much more controlable than the original effect it is based on. It does not sound brittle or bury your tone, just colors it in a very musical way. I have gotten great results using both single coil and humbucker pickups. I have used it through an AC30, Mesa MK3, Hiwatt custom 100, Ashdown Peacemaker 100, Duncan convertable 100, and a Fuchs Overdrive Supreme. I have gotten great sounds with all of them.
Reliability/Durability:
It will probably outlive you!!!!!!!! Built like a tank!
Ease of Use:
First let me say that this is an upgraded copy of the original tychobre octavia with the an added footswitch to turn the octave on and off and a 2 color led to indicate which mode you are using. The originals are inconsistent and are impedance sensitive You really have to tune them in so to speak, this pedal has many of the same charateristics. It is not identical to others I have heard and played through but it does get some incerdible sounds. I got this pedal not expecting it to be plug and play, and I am impressed by the fact that it has quite a few great sounds waiting to be discoverd. You will need to work with it and it definitly yelds different tones based on guitar, amp, and pedal setups. The time spent ajusting things will be rewarded with some incredible sounds, but if your looking for a swiss army knife this aint it. Hendrix threw his first octavia in the garbage! I gave it a 9 beacause it does require some tweaking but I expected it to be this way so no surprises. Worth evey minute of tweaking time. I dont think you could make this much easyer but if you are looking for something simpler in an octave effect try a Foxx Tone Machine.

answered questions and seems very helpful!
Overall Rating:
this is a very expensive indever and not for the faint of hart. Considering what vintage octavia's cost its a steal. If you are trying to counjour Jimmy you will need a lot more money and a lot more talent. If you are looking to creat a great signiture sound this pedal is the shiznit! It is very musical and awsome tones abound if you have the ears and the time to work with it. Awsome for the tone freeks and lo fi junkies! It will also replicate some classic tones. the rest is up to you!!!
