This is one of the cleanest and quality sounding stomp box EQ's I have played through. I lined it up with the Ibanez GE10, Boss GE7, Vintage Ross 10 band EQ, and a MXR M108. The M108 is the only one out of the ones mentioned that is as good and even cleaner but if you like to clip your EQ's and run them in front of your distortion stage the DOD it the way to go. I cannot believe it is half the price of the Boss GE7 which gets muddy very easily compared to the DOD. Some people don't believe any device deserves a 10. Why on earth have a rating system from 1 to 10 if you are NEVER going to give anything a 10? No, nothing is 100% perfect but you must rate on the basic variables. The price, quality, and what it was designed to do. For a $49 7 band EQ, this baby gets a 10 in my book!
Reliability/Durability:
I've had mine for about 4 months but have used it non stop in continuous experiments with my sound plugging and unplugging over and over. It started doing some weird things like the light wouldn't go off, then the  pedal wouldn't shut off. This pedal is built great. Solid steel and durable. Not cheap plastic.
Ease of Use:
7 Band EQ. Can't get mush simpler.

Super fantastic value! Excellent EQ stomp box. I have run this in the FX loop and again it sounded better than the others mentioned with the exception of the MXR M108 but I personally prefer super clean line level (usually rack mount) EQ's in my FX loop. If you are looking for a stomp box pedal to put in front of your amp I totally recommend this EQ. I have been playing for 30 years and play anything from heavy blues to shredding metal. If it got lost or stolen I may try the M108 but that is only because I sold my Marshall and am trying some new things but if I came back to needing an EQ to run in front of a tube amp to EQ my tone and push the tube amp into more saturation I wouldn't even look any further (because I already have) than the DOD FX40B (with the exception of the old 1970's 6 band MXR EQ - not very clean but will make any amp just scream!)

My favorite artist or music i play on guitar is Metallica and Pantera. This pedal definatly helps me get closer to there sound. To get the best sound out of pedal you will want to run it first in your pedal chain or if you use your amps distortion you should use an effects loop jack if your amp has it.It's not a noisy pedal as you can adjust the settings if it gets noisy and even help unwanted noise from your other effects. Its a 7 band EQ so it gives you the options of really digging into the low's mids' and high's .I use it with a Jackson DK2 with seymour duncan distortion humbucker and a fender champion 110 most of the time .I also like to use it and i can have two different tones by turning it on or off.You can tell such a differnce with it off.You get so much more volume and tone with it on.It's the first pedal coming from my amp in my chain then it;s ditortion, chorus. If you dont have a EQ stompbox you really need one.I will give it a nine just because i dont want to say the best in the world, but it's right there to me.
Reliability/Durability:
This thing is very reliabile. It's not made of cheap plastic it's all metal and very tough. The pedal is like 10  years old i think and all the knobs are still there and works 100% correct.I dont recommend throwing it against walls or doing elbow drops on it (but it could probably take it.I would without question use this pedal for a gig,one thing though it will eat a 9volt battery quick!!!!!!!!!!!!! so you have to get an adapter with this pedal.
Ease of Use:
The pedal takes a bit of fooling around to get used to.It all depends on what sound you want.I downloaded a manual for it online and it had 2 preset's one for big fat distortion tone and one for a blues tone.I used the heavy tone but you can adjust it to fit anyway you play.
Customer Support:
I dont deal with customer support .Whats the point? Just buy a new one or forget it.It would cost what you payed for it to ship back and forth and pay for work.
Overall Rating:
My overall rating for this would be you cant live without it as a musician. This improves your sound so much its insane. This pedal isnt just for one style its for everything.Just think about how much better a home stereo  is with a seperate equilzer.Even if you use a multi effect pedal the eq on it is nothing compared to a stompbox were you have so much more control. If something happened to this pedal i would have to buy one again .I bought this pedal on ebay and they go pretty cheap.I have been buying almost all my gear on ebay latley.I currently have a Fender stratocaster ,Jackson DK2 ,Fender 110 champion ,Crate G130C head and two 4 12; cabinets,,dod Eq, IBANEZ DISTORTION,IBANEZ SUPER CHORUS ,BEHRINGER CHORUS (IF I WERE YOU I WOULDNT WASTE MONEY ON BEHRINGER PRODUCTS THERE PRETTY CHEAP SOUNDING PEDALS).
