The quality of the "no sound" it produces is excellent...I'm actually using it only as a master switch - I have a godlyke power supply that is supplying power to: this (PSM-5), boss ce-3 chorus, boss ce-2 compressor, ibanez ts-9 tube screamer, ibanez ps-9 phaser, boss hf-2 flanger, boss os-2 od/dist, digitech pds-1002 delay, boss rps-10 pitch shifter/delay, and a danelectro tunamelt tremolo. I think I've even got some power to spare. I've used it power more than 7 effects and I never had a problem - I just like the godlyke 'cuz it has more types of cable attachments and the wall-wart is smaller. The PSM-5 works great as a master switch and serves as an effects loop since the one on my amp seems to conk out once in a while.
Reliability/Durability:
When World War III begins, get as many boss pedals as you can and build your fallout shelter out of them - you may not survive but they will.
Ease of Use:
Piece of cake.
Customer Support:
Never had to deal with them and I've been using Boss pedals for about 20 years - goes to show you how reliable their stuff is.
Overall Rating:
Can't remember what I paid for it - bought it with the BCB-6 pedalboard a long time ago. I never liked the pedalboard but I've continued to use this no matter what. If it were lost or stolen I might consider replacing it with the Boss Noise Suppressor since it has an effects loop and I'm not really using the PSM-5 for the power - then again if I found one cheap enough on eBay I'd probably get one.

It dont affects the sound it is a switch that controls the effects on or bypass and power all your stomp boxes. The LS-2 line selector also can power your stomp boxes and also acts as a switch routing your effects. I also have the LS-2 but the PSM-5 is essential for me because I use it with the BCB-6 pedal case.
Reliability/Durability:
IT is a boss, very reliable
Ease of Use:
Very easy to use comes with a power adapter and a cord to power your stomp boxes, at least 8. This is where I hook the input and output jacks and the 9V dc supply. I use it with a BCB-6 pedal case, esential if you buy the BCB-6.

Overall Rating:
This pedal is essential for me, if stolen or lost I would be very mad because now it is discontinued. I use it with BCB-6 pedal case loaded with boss pedals into Roland JC120 amp.

I am trying to preserve my tone as much as possible, which is why I got this switch in the first place. I wanted to bypass the BOSS ME-33 when not in use and use my amp's tubes. :-)
Reliability/Durability:
Haven't used it long enough to rate this category. But I trust anything BOSS.
Ease of Use:
BOSS PSM-5 Power Supply and A/B Switch Once everything is hooked up, it's an extremely useful thing to have. Specially in my situation: I like to play straight to my amp for a lot of songs, but then others I want to add some effects. My Setup is... GE-7 -> PSM-5 -> Amp | --> CE-2 -> ME-33 MultiFX Hook in the guitar and the amp. Then hook in your effects chain, send and return. Hitting the pedal then toggles between straight amp and the effects chain. Light goes from green to red. I also have a BOSS ME-33 multi effect unit. Every patch has it's own volume, which can be a real pain some times. Using the PSM-5 allows you to easily "check volume" by switching back and forth between amp and effects. Adjust the FX unit to match the amp as necessary, VERY helpful. Also make sure to get the daisy chain 9V cables to hook up power to everything, only one wall rat needed! Although the Roland/BOSS version is stingy on the wire length between plugs - too short! May need to splice in some extra wire.
Customer Support:
Never used.
Overall Rating:
For anyone with effects and a decent amp, this unit is essential. It's not made anymore, but you can eBay it for a very good value. The current production versions will be twice the price and electronic bypass instead of true. Advice is to plan out your setup cause you'll have to buy a lot of specific cables to hook up everything neatly. I would definitely replace this unit with another if something happened to it, if I could find one! :-) I love what it does just as much as what it doesn't do. No volume or tone or anything, that would be "in the way". Just a router, no processing. It allows me to easily preserve my tone as well as have diverse setups available and the hit of one pedal.

It does not affect the sound at all. My setup is simply a standard Strat into the PSM-5, through 3 other Boss pedals and into a Marshall VS65. Since this is just a switch, it does change the effects at all.
Reliability/Durability:
Can definatly depend on it. I've never had a boss go bad on me. As everyone else has said, it's built like any other Boss pedal. It's great..
Ease of Use:
Couldn't be easier. No knobs, just plugs and a pedal.
Customer Support:
Never dealt with them
Overall Rating:
I have to give this pedal full marks. I mean, it's not an effect anyway. But the price I paid for it was fantastic, and Boss PSA's cost around the same price (AU$60), with several pedals it saves a heap. All my effects are Boss. I usually go for the old stuff, I haven't owned a new Boss pedal for years, this is no exception. If it were stolen, I'd have to look for another - I couldn't do without it now. The main thing I like (except for the money saving point) is the option to turn off all my effects with one stomp.

quick correction to my review, boss pedals use fet bypass which sucks tone, so it was a combo of all the boss pedals, not my psm-5.
