No batteries and it's not noisy one bit. That's pretty good for an abused, 25 year old, foot operated, volume pot. I use it inbetween the stereo outputs of my Boss ME-50 pedal board and the inputs of my two 1970's Fender Champs. I've also got a Boss Tu-12 tuner stuck to the side of it so I can tune my guitar on stage between songs without any volume to my amps.
Reliability/Durability:
Still works like new.....just a little faded in color.
Ease of Use:
I too bought mine many years ago...1984 perhaps.... It has two inputs and two outputs and is very much a stereo volume control. It also has a line out for a tuner...a very cool thing. One more feature is the volume knob that sets the lowest volume when fully depressing the heel part of the pedal.

They still sells these! I just saw one at Guitar Center for $69.95 new! I took a moment to enjoy my clever bargining skills of 25 years ago! I've been playing guitar since 1969. I love Classic rock, Heavy Metal and Grunge.... It's good to see Judas Priest still belting it out!!!

I play many styles of music but my latest project is a country band. I needed a volume pedal ro get pedal steel sounds. This does the job. I play professionally and this is a professional product. I like tho old Morley's but being collectable today I don't want to pay the price. Plus they are heavy. The FV-60 is very light weight. I like this better than Ernie Ball units.
