Speed and depth, pretty straighforward.
I really liked the stock pedal. Previously I had been running a Small Clone which sounded very lush on my 1966 Pro Reverb but has quite a bit of coloring to the signal and with overdrive pedals it would sometimes get a little harsh depending on the amount of drive. I found that the stock CE-2 suffered from the same issues but less than the Clone, so I preferred it. It's a clearer pedal with that great analog tone. Now I have to say that the best way I can describe the sound after the mod is a marriage of digital high fidelity and analog warmth. It is a much clearer pedal now with less coloring, better level volume, and less added distortion. I can see how some players won't like the pedal if they enjoyed the coloring of if that was what appealed to them about the pedal. For my personal tastes this pedal is the best chorus pedal I've played. I even prefer it to the Fulltone Choralflange.
I imagine that a Boss pedal that is hot rodded by Robert Keeley should prove to be pretty reliable.
Two knobs, pretty straightforward.
It's quite the bit of a story about my customer service interaction with Keeley in regards to this mod. A situation prevented me from sending in the pedal after I had bought the mod, which led to me owning the mod for a year before I was able to send it in. Nonetheless when the time came Robert was great and was very understanding even though records of my purchase were probably archived. He trusted me and did the mod with no problems.
It's a great chorus pedal if what you want is very clear and open chorusing. If you are going for colored chorusing I would consider other options. If you need headroom and are running overdrive it will play nice with it's other pedal friends.
