One knob - simple enough.
I bought the block logo version for $35 on Craigslist. When I first used it, there was a huge volume boost when engaged and very harsh sounding (as many reviews have spoken about). It was essentially unusable. I had to keep the knob all the way at the lowest setting (6:00) or it would sound way too much phase for my taste. I came on here and read all about the R28, C11 and C12 mod. I figured, hey even though I don't know anything about electronics, it seems easy and if I screw anything up, it's only $35. So I went ahead, took it apart, clipped the R28, C11 and C12, and suddenly it went from being a $35 purchase to a $100+ pedal. No more volume boost, no more added harshness and distortion. Now it sounds AWESOME! I can't imagine anyone using this thing pre-mod. Now I can use the knob anywhere from the lowest setting (6:00) up to about 12:00, and it sounds great - mellow phase, clear, warm, so much better than pre-mod. So happy I researched this mod and went ahead with it. In case you're interested, my setup is:
2007 Fender American Strat Ash body with S-1 switch > Crybaby 353q Wah > Boss TU-2 > Ibanez Tubescreamer TS-5 > Fulltone OCD V.4 > Ibanez CS-9 Chorus > MXR Phase 90 MODDED > Boss DD-7 Delay > Peavey Classic 50 (pre-amp, no effects loop).
Took it apart and looks solid.
Again, one knob...
Haven't dealt with them.
After the mod, this thing is excellent. Sounds great on clean and overdriven guitars, but I prefer it on the clean settings. Adds dimension, especially on low settings. Can't go wrong after the mod. Highly recommended.
