Purchased From:
ebay. Mr Music in Boston MA
Price:
$45.00 USD
Features:
Sound Quality:
This pedal captures the thick Marshall crunch and earth quaking chunk you expect from a very expensive Marshall combo or head/cabinet. Every postion on each dial is very usable. No gray areas with the settings. No puny sounds or nasal type of distortion. The overdrive resonates for days. I have an array of effects, including phase, flange, chorus, wah, all going into the front end of a Peavey Classic 30 1x12 combo. The GV-2 leads the way just behind the wah. My final lethal combination is a BBE sonic stomp pedal which sends my tone from the GV-2 into area shattering tone from just a small 30 watt combo. I have noticed no noise whatsoever with this Marshall pedal.
Reliability/Durability:
I have come to depend on this pedal. It seems to be built like a fortress, and the on/off switch seems very solid. I do gig with this pedal without a backup, but plan on spending money on a second, due to Marshall possibly discontinuing them one day or the secret about this piece of gear getting out, and not being able to find one.
Ease of Use:
This pedal is very easy to use. There are actual no bad settings. From slight bluesy overdrive that just starts to break up, to scorching bottom end thumping resonance, it's all unbelievable tone.
Customer Support:
I have not dealt with tech support at Marshall.
Overall Rating:
I play bluesy, progressive rock, and harder type of stuff. (RATM, Satriani, classics like Zep, AC/DC, Aerosmith) I have been playing about 25 years. I own a Peavey US Standard Limited edition, and a PRS. I would definitely buy or borrow another GV-2 if lost or stolen. I love that there is no bad tone from this pedal, and my favorite feature of it is the deep control. I compared it to many different tested and owned distortion and overdrive pedals. (Tube Screamers, Boss ds-1, Dano Daddy-o and Fabtones, Boss Blues Driver, many others).
