Sound Quality:
The octave sounds are better than anything else I've ever played; RM Octavia, Fulltone Ultimate Octave, etc. I've owned those units and none have as prominent octave effect as this one. In the sustain mode, it sounds very similar to a good fuzz face, with more flexibility because the Mellow/Brite knob (basically a tone control) allows you to dial in a lot of different sounds, from mellow thumpy to searing treble. It is also very quiet, in fact in octave mode, it is completely quiet, almost like a noise gate effect. My rating is sort of split. The octave is definitely a 10, the regular fuzz probably an 8.
Reliability/Durability:
The footswitch went bad in mine, but it was simple to replace. I was suprised when I opened it up, since this thing has got to be at least 20 or 30 years old, that it used true bypass switching.
Ease of Use:
This unit is basically two different fuzz sounds in a single pedal. Knobs for Volume, Sustain, and Mellow/Brite, with a toggle switch to select between Octave and Sustain. I don't know how old this pedal is. I can't seem to find too much info on the Net.
Customer Support:
Never dealt with the company.
Overall Rating:
Well, it does the Hendrix thing (Purple Haze, Axis (the whole album), and Band of Gypsies. I'm playing a old Strat into an old Marshall, so that probably helps. If lost or stolen I would definitely try to replace it. Unfortunately, I've only seen one other for sale and it went for $237.15 on eBay. But considering the cost new pedals that in my opinion don't come close, that price is a bargain.
