Here we go again...once revisiting my sonic memories I did recall an OD1 that was left by someone on stage, I tried it during the band's set up and for some reason I was under the impression that the sustain went for days, not a dirty sound, but according to my old memory I was fond on that sustain... Some months ago I decided to look after a vintage OD1 and I found a very good deal on ebay, the seller was a great guy btw. When I got it, well...it sounded very nice as an OD but it proved my memory failed the concept...it was not the sound that I thought it was. However as an OD, very BOSS sounding, very mid highs, it was cool but I thought it could improve tone and power. Having had a previous successful experience with a DS1, I consulted Tim Jauernig on the issue and I sent him the pedal. I couldn't be happier with the results, if it was a good overdrive before now was a killer one. Tone, presence, sustain and bite all improved in quantic form. This is not to be compared to other OD pedals please, simply my tube amp and my Fenders loved it!. I found it specially useful if placed it before other distortion pedals, it added clarity and bite of a wonderful quality. If used alone in tandem with the amp. overdrive it just makes the amp sing! It works superbly nice (but not limited to) in the pop rock, blues, hard rock context. In my board is the first pedal after the wha and is my main "clean" od sound. I saw (heard) Richard Lloyd sounding beautifully with his vintage TS 808 but that's a different od.

THis mod. was extremely helpful. Usually I use very high distortion levels or just clean guitars. If I needed to tailor something less heavy, cleaner, I would normally go for the amp. overdrive. With this modded OD1 I have a clean yet fat midrangey option that works beast in the tube amp. world. Also is so helpful to place it before the other distortion pedals since it adds sustain, clarity and bite to them...I'm very happy thanks to a Jauernig mod again.
