Sound Quality:
just using it as a preamp really, straight into protools recording system via a DI box. lovely as long as you let the valve warm up fully, quite noisy before it warms. The box gives a beautiful clean strat sound, i prefer it on the single coil pick up types of guitar, it warms and yet clarifies the strat. think robert plant big log or moolight shadow by mike oldfield. easy to get that kind of sound from a strat with this bad boy.
Reliability/Durability:
not had it that long, use it only in a studio.
Ease of Use:
easy peasy to get a good sound out of this valve pedal. input, boost and output knobs big and easy to use a boost on/off switch and a 3way toggle switch allowing selection between silicone diode, germanium diode and valve distortion/overdrive. easy to get a good sound
Customer Support:
Dave Hall is a top bloke, makes these and plenty of other stuff himself by hand, does a hi-plate dual valve thingy too, think messa v-twin pedal but a quarter of the cost. I got a full guarantee with the box.
Overall Rating:
a good piece of kit, i use it on all the electric guitars i record, any style. I am currently experimenting with it on harmonica too. I would buy another one if i lost it or lent it to a guy who doesn't return stuff. I looked at factory produced stuff and figured this would be worth a try and now rate it along side a pedal worth twice what I paid. A top piece of kit BUY ONE!!!! or two even
