Yamaha's SW1000XG audio card is set to ship in September, and to help you get the most out of the card, Yamaha has released XGEDIT 2.6 for Windows 95/98/NT 4.0. XGEDIT 2.6 offers full support for the SW1000XG's audio and MIDI functions, and can be used along with programs like Cakewalk, Cubase, Logic, SAW, Cool Edit Pro, Sound Forge, and Acid, provided that a multi-client MIDI driver is used. Users will have full control over the effects and mixing for all of the audio tracks used in the applications, plus full control over the extensive parameter set on the SW1000XG itself.

Users of XGEDIT 2.6 will also be able to take advantage of the PLG100VL, VH, and DX daughterboards that can be used with the SW1000XG, providing full access to the hundreds of extra voices that the daughterboards can offer. XGEDIT 2.6 also features a new analog control surface for the MU100R/MU90R/MU80/MU10/SW60XG and the big one for the SW1000XG.

    Feature Summary:

    • Support for extended XG features of the new SW1000XG PCI sound card.
    • Improved refresh function.
    • Improved file saves.
    • Plug-in card selection and support (VL, VH, DX).
    • Improved voice selection.
    • Several bug fixes.
    • New analog mixer control, with save for setups.
