World’s Largest Music Manufacturing Company Shows Strong Commitment to Emerging Portable Music Platform

BUENA PARK, Calif.—By developing a new i-MX1 MIDI interface, Yamaha has taken the lead in the music product industry adapting the iPad, iPhone and iPod touch to help make the lives of musicians and producers easier and more portable.

The i-MX1 (Retail: $69.99) connects the iPad, iPhone and iPod with any MIDI instrument. Setup is simple: just connect the i-MX1 to a portable Apple device and any instrument with a MIDI port, from top-of-the-line workstations to entry-level keyboards and high-end digital drum kits like the DTX900K to the DTX Multi-12 drum multi pad. Compatible with any Core MIDI compliant iOS application, the device can be used to play the virtual instruments in the Garage Band for iPad app with any MIDI instrument capable of plugging into the i-MX1. Since there are many Core MIDI compatible iOS apps and many MIDI instruments, there are lots of possible connections with the Yamaha i-MX1 interface.
