  • Wampler Pedals Releases "Tweed '57" Overdrive and Tone-Shaping Pedal

    By Guest |

Martinsville, IN  May 14, 2012 - Always a fan of classic tones, Brian first made the Black '65 Overdrive and Tone Shaper, but amp history didn't begin in the '60s. Reaching further back and using every bit of his design expertise, Brian has created the Wampler Pedals Tweed '57 Overdrive and Tone Shaper, designed to do for the late '50s what the Black '65 does for the mid '60s: offer musicians those classic tones without any hassle and at a fraction of the cost.

Wampler Pedals, makers of the Paisley Drive™ and Black '65™ Overdrive among other pedals, has a new addition to their Heritage Series of pedals in the Tweed '57™ Overdrive and Tone Shaper.

Brian Wampler, President of Wampler Pedals, Inc. and pedal designer, comments on Tone Shaper pedals: "Pros and players have been 'stacking' pedals for decades, but pedals designed to shape the whole sound into a different, amp-inspired tone, that's new. The Tweed '57™ is an overdrive first, and has a ton of functionality there, I didn't hold back anything to get that part of it perfect. But it's also capable of being put right before your amp and changing the whole sound to be like the tone of the old tweed Bassman, or Deluxe, or Princeton, depending on how it's set. I think more and more people are really appreciating that kind of versatility in pedals. One trick ponies aren't my thing and I don't think players are satisfied with them either."

The Tweed '57™ features a three-band EQ named "Vintage American Tone Structure;" a Gain knob, a Volume knob, and a unique "Input Simulator" toggle-switch feature with Normal, Bright and Linked modes.

Brian explains, "Everyone knows that the blackface Fender tone does a great 'just on the edge of breakup' sound, and I think we captured that very accurately with the Black '65™ pedal. With the Tweed '57™, I wanted to capture the magic of tweed-covered, mid-to-late '50s cranked Bassman, or Deluxe, or a Champ tones all in one pedal. Our customers are telling us we nailed the sound and more importantly the feel of those tones extremely well with the Tweed '57™. Dialing in the amp tone you're after comes down to using the Input Simulator feature; I worked hard to make that as close to the sound of the 'real thing' as possible. It's extremely gratifying and humbling to hear your customers tell you that you accomplished your goal."
