The Free Guitar Pickup Tone Database - Now With Tone Comparison Rankings

The guitar pickup tone database has been expanded to include 227 pickups, and the tool now shows similarities in tone between different pickups. An advanced algorithm quickly searches the hundreds of pickups in the database and selects pickups that sound similar to those displayed, allowing one to easily compare brands and models of pickups to select the right ones.

This innovative FREE web tool also displays frequency response plots of each pickup, and plays a reference audio clip through the pickup response to demonstrate what it sounds like under numerous cable and loading conditions. This lets the user hear differences between pickups, aiding pickup selection.

The web site is also loaded with information on the factors that affect pickup tone. More pickups are being added to the database, and pickup manufacturers can have their pickups tested and included for free.
