The Echo Nest today announced the launch of its Fanalytics platform. Fanalytics applies patented web crawling, machine learning and semantic web technology to help artists and labels better understand, locate and build their online fan base. As part of the launch, The Echo Nest announced an existing customer base of industry leaders, including Interscope Records (Universal), Independent Label Group (WMG), RCA Music Group (Sony) and entertainment services company, The Orchard. The Echo Nest's Fanalytics platform is based on technology developed over twelve years at MIT, Berkeley and Columbia university by the company's two PhD co-founders, Brian Whitman and Tristan Jehan. "At The Orchard, we constantly seek out new ways to expand our marketing reach in effective, strategic ways. Fanalytics will serve as a key element of our online publicity campaigns," commented Jaclyn Ranere, head of Marketing at The Orchard. "Nearly everyone who works at The Echo Nest is a musician. We understand that simply making your music available on the web is easy. The challenge is cutting through the noise to build a meaningful fan base," said Jim Lucchese, CEO of The Echo Nest. Fanalytics complements The Echo Nest's existing product suite for consumer-facing online music services, powering enhanced music search, recommendation and interactive music applications.
