  • Sweetwater Named Exclusive US Dealer for The Rock Studio Monitor

    By Guest |

Unity Audio named world-renowned MI retailer Sweetwater as the exclusive US dealer for their new line of high-end studio monitors today at the 127th AES convention. Designed by a hand picked team of audio professionals with impeccable credentials, Unity Audio monitors set a new standard in precision audio monitoring. The first offering from Unity Audio will be The Rock ($2199 MSRP per pair), a two-way monitor with a spectacular folded ribbon tweeter and a 180mm (7") pulp fiber woofer with 0.2 mm aluminum bonding, a custom built discrete bi-amplified 100W amplifier designed by Esoteric Audio Research guru Tim De Paravicini and a closed cabinet design made from top grade 12mm 9-ply Baltic Birch rather than cheaper MDF, producing more accurate, smoother bass response than ported designs. One of the most striking features of the unit is its Corian® front baffle, which provides unparalleled mass and rigidity to the unit. An ingenious bracing system is also utilized to stop cabinet flexing. "We wanted to produce a brutally honest monitor, and we've certainly done that," states Unity Audio MD Kevin Walker. "I've been intimately involved with several brands of high end studio monitors throughout the years, and these easily outperform all of them in terms of accuracy and imaging." "We had an early opportunity to try The Rock speakers in our state-of-the-art recording studios," says Sweetwater president Chuck Surack. "When the opportunity to partner with Unity Audio as the exclusive US dealer came up, we jumped at the chance. We knew that this was a product line that we wanted to represent." The Rock is will be available at Sweetwater in November, 2009
