    By Guest |

Avlex Corporation is pleased to introduce the new Superlux E523/D X/Y Stereo Field Recording Microphone. Designed for use in broadcast and other professional field recording applications as a convenient solution for capturing live performances in stereo, the Superlux E523/D features a closely matched pair of capsules in an X/Y configuration, an integrated low frequency roll-off switch, external On/Off switch, the ability to operate on either battery or Phantom power, and balanced operation that makes this microphone an excellent choice for use with professional or consumer grade A/V equipment.

The new Superlux E523/D excels as a stereo field recording microphone. Featuring two closely matched fixed-charge, back plate, permanently polarized condenser capsules with an X/Y stereo polar pattern, the new E523/D captures live performances with stunning realism and broad spatial impact—enabling the listener to fully appreciate the placement of the various voices or instruments throughout the stereo field. Coupled with a 30 Hz - 20 kHz frequency response and a maximum SPL rating of 126 dB (1 kHz @ 1% THD), the Superlux E523/D is well suited for capturing large wind ensembles, amplified instruments, and other high SPL sound sources without overloading the microphone's sensitive electronics.

Versatility is one of the E523/D's key attributes. This exceptional microphone features a compact form factor that makes it an outstanding choice for use in camera mount applications. With balanced operation that terminates into twin XLR male connectors, the Superlux E523/D is adept at integrating with a wide range of professional or consumer grade A/V products—including cameras, DAT recorders, plus a wide range of hard disk, MiniDisc, or flash memory recorders.

For still greater flexibility in the field, the new Superlux E523/D offers users the ability to power the microphone using either a single 1.5V AA battery or Phantom power. Further, with its integrated On/Off switch, users needn't worry about draining the battery unnecessarily. To assist engineers in capturing the clearest, most natural sounding performances, the E523/D also incorporates a low frequency roll-off switch that can be particularly useful when recording bass predominant source material. With a signal-to-noise ratio of 70 dB (1 kHz @ 1 Pa) and a dynamic range of 102 dB (1 kHz @ maximum SPL), the Superlux E523/D is engineered to capture all the realism of the original performance.

The new Superlux E523/D X/Y Stereo Field Recording Microphone includes a 5-meter stereo cable, a microphone clamp, and a protective pouch. Optional accessories include the S-50 wind screen and the HM-40C camera mount. The new Superlux E523/D carries a MSRP of $120. The microphone is expected to be available Q2 of 2007.
