The MDS-JE440 pro model is designed for basic recording and playback applications such as live sound, DJ recording, radio production, and A/V installation. Features include, ATRAC Type "R" Digital Signal Processing, 24-bit analog to digital converters, and wide bit stream technology.
"The new MDS-JE440 is an excellent lower cost addition to our MiniDisc line," said Paul Foschino, marketing manager for professional audio products at Sony Electronics' Broadcast and Professional Company. "It is a perfect recording device for working musicians and entertainment venues. The unit will also find considerable use in colleges and smaller radio stations."
The MDS-JE440 model also offers an El Core power transformer that vastly reduces radiated hum, a Digital Sample Rate Converter that allows easy digital transfer from other digital audio sources like as DAT, and Optical digital input CD-text and Custom File transfer via Control A-1 II. This option provides the ability to transfer CD-Text titles to MD during recording from CDs that contain CD-Text and are being played back on a CD player that recognizes it.
Additional features include:
- Time Machine Recording (captures audio input prior to pressing the RECORD button);
- Advanced MiniDisc editing set: Track Combine, Divide, Move, Erase, A-B Erase, Undo and Rehearse;
- Digital Record Level (allows adjustment from menu or remote);
- Smart Space Recording (replaces blank space created by interruption); and
- CD-Synchro Recording allows synchronized record and play using the wireless remote (supplied) with a compatible Sony CD player.
The MDS-JE440 will be available this month at a suggested list price of $250.
