The SONAR 2016.03 update introduces more than just a new naming convention for the new year of updates. It also introduces great features targeted for both new and existing SONAR users. Whether you're new to SONAR or a power user, the new in-app Help Module will get you working faster and more efficiently than ever before. In addition, we've added a new synth from A|A|S, the oft-requested Melodyne Tempo Detection, and more fixes and enhancements.

Your projects can now follow a live recording's tempo. Simply drag a standard audio clip or Melodyne Region FX Clip to SONAR's timeline, and SONAR creates a tempo map that follows the clip tempo. Learn more
Ultra Analog Session 2's production-ready sound banks include 144 presets divided among Arpeggio, bass, Lead, Pad, and Polysynth and 100 additional signature presets from Richard Devine and Sean Divine. Learn more
A|A|S Lounge Lizard Update
A resized interface, additional microtonal tunings via scala files, and added computer keyboard support to the UI make this a great update to an already outstanding synth.

Boston, MA, (April 5, 2016) – Cakewalk, dedicated to powerful and thoughtfully designed software for modern musicians, announces the new SONAR 2016.03 release for SONAR Artist, Professional and Platinum versions. This month’s “Rolling Update” continues Cakewalk's commitment to improving and optimizing SONAR's core functionality, while delivering new world-class technology every month.
The new Help Module view responds dynamically to how someone uses the program, and can guide beginners through SONAR while alerting veterans to shortcuts and additional techniques. Many descriptions also include a “Learn More” link that opens a related topic in SONAR’s online Help. The Help module can float, or be docked above or below the Browser as preferred by the user.
2016.03 also brings Melodyne Tempo Detection through SONAR’s powerful ARA (Audio Random Access)-based Melodyne integration. Similar to drag-and-drop MIDI extraction, dragging a standard audio clip or Melodyne region effect to SONAR’s timeline creates an instant tempo map so clips and syncing FX can follow a project’s tempo—or even follow varying tempos, as with live recordings.
Additionally, the latest monthly release not only updates the popular Lounge Lizard electric piano soft synth from A|A|S, but adds A|A|S Ultra Analog Session 2. Hitting the sweet spot between “powerful” and “easy to use,” its production-ready sound banks include Arpeggio, Bass, Lead, Pad, and Polysynth (with signature presets from artists like Richard Devine and Sean Divine). Users can also create their own presets and signature sounds utilizing the effect processor, low pass filter, arpeggiator and triangular waveform LFO.
