  • Royer Labs Debuts SF-24, R-121, And R-122 Live Series Microphones

    By Guest |

Royer Labs, recognized globally as a leading manufacturer of high quality ribbon microphones, is pleased to announce the new Live Series microphones. Starting with the company's critically acclaimed SF-24 Phantom Powered Stereo Ribbon Microphone, the R-121 Ribbon Microphone, and the R-122 Active Ribbon™ Microphone as the source for the three new Live Series offerings, Royer Labs has created road ruggedized versions of these three models—enabling live sound/touring professionals to capture the most subtle details of a live performance with the warmth and sonic transparency Royer's studio models are known for.

For Royer's new SF-24 Live Phantom Powered Stereo Ribbon Microphone, the thickness of the two ribbons has been increased from 1.8 microns to 2.5 microns. With the R-121 Live and R-122 Live models, ribbon thickness has been increased from 2.5 microns to 4 microns. Live Series microphones are identified with an "L" on the top of the mic, and are priced the same as the studio versions.

Royer's new Live Series Microphones are expected to become available Q1 of 2008. MSRP pricing for the three models is as follows:

    • SF-24 Live—$4,495.00
    • R-121 Live—$1,395.00
    • R-122 Live—$1,895.00

Designed as a premium instrument for stereo and distance miking applications, the SF-24 Live represents a significant improvement for many ambient and critical applications due to the inclusion of Royer's exclusive active electronics system for ribbon microphones. The SF-24 Live consists of two matched ribbon microphones placed one above the other, each aimed 45 degrees from center in the classic Blumlein configuration.

    R-121 Live Ribbon Microphone

The R-121 Live ribbon microphone is designed for today's live performance spaces. It exhibits a flat frequency response and a well-balanced, panoramic soundfield with the ability to withstand 135 dB SPL—making it an ideal tool for drum and guitar amp miking, as well as a variety of acoustic instruments.

    R-122 Live Active Ribbon Microphone

The Royer R-122 Live is the world's first phantom powered, active ribbon microphone designed for live sound applications.
