Rounding out Rane's series of analog-controlled digital products for live sound applications, the C4 offers four channels of compression and limiting in a 2U package. Internal and external side-chain options offer a fully adjustable parametric EQ for frequency-dependent compression or de-essing. The oversampled brick wall limiter determines the maximum output level and operates independent of the compressor. Adjacent channels link in a master/slave arrangement to ensure accurate tracking of stereo inputs. Intuitive meters show side-chain level relative to Threshold, gain reduction and complete dynamic range at a glance. The C4 with a suggested list price of $999 begins shipping Q1 of 2004.
Key features:
- Independent Compressor/De-esser & Limiter per channel
- Relative-threshold De-essing remains calibrated at any gain/level
- External side-chain with balanced/unbalanced TRS input
- Side-chain includes a fully parametric filter and compress, de-ess and Listen modes
- Independent below Threshold, gain reduction and limiter headroom metering
- Stereo Link
- All inputs and outputs are auto balanced/unbalanced - XLR & TRS I/O
- Universal internal power supply
The C4 is a member of Rane's new family of products specifically targeted at the needs of sound reinforcement professionals. Other products in the family include the MM 42 Personal Monitor Processor, G4 Quad Gate, PEQ 55 Parametric Equalizer, DEQ 60 & DEQ 60L Graphic Equalizers, and AC 24 Active Crossover.
