TASCAM has recently announced their Pocketstudio Network, a peer-to-peer contact database and online community for Pocketstudio 5 users, is now comprised of over 500 registered users. After registering into the Pocketstudio Network, users can search through listings of other Network members to find like-minded people to share musical ideas or to form collaborative endeavors using the Pocketstudio 5 to trade or share project materials.
"Forming an online community based on the Pocketstudio's inherent abilities of working within the MP3 audio file format seemed like a natural process," says Jace Nuzback, TASCAM senior product specialist. "Since the Pocketstudio's session files are small enough to email and the recorder features a USB connector, users can send and receive completed mixes or individual parts into their computer and work with other network members anywhere in the world."
The first time a Pocketstudio owner visits the Pocketstudio Network, they are prompted to register and provide information including their name, email address, the types of music they enjoy and the instruments they play. They then can use the network's search function to find other Pocketstudio owners with whom they can collaborate. To connect with another user, users simply email one another (if they choose to publicly display their email address) or they can choose to post a message to the Pocketstudio Network online forum to find other users. TASCAM does not host any files, materials or other services on their site other than the database of Pocketstudio 5 users and an accompanying online users forum.
