At AES, Tascam announced a new lower price for the PocketStudio 5. Previously sold for $499, the PocketStudio 5 now sells for only $399. This puts the four-track recorder/MIDI arranger/MP3 recorder within reach of even more musicians.
The PocketStudio 5 combines a four-track digital recorder, MIDI arranger/tone generator and an MP3 recorder/player. The built-in arranging engine has 100 song styles to choose from, from country swing to hip hop. Songs can be arranged with user-saved chord changes and played back by the PocketStudio 5's virtual house band.
Musicians can track and mix up to nine songs on a removable Compact Flash card, mix them using five built-in effects processors, then transfer them to a computer for editing or sharing on the internet. It includes a pair of headphones with a headset mic, power adapter and built-in guitar tuner so it's ready to rock right out of the box.
