  • New Wireless Test Microphone System from EV

    By Guest |

Electro-Voice announced the availability of a new wireless test microphone system, the RTM-1000 (Remote Test Microphone). The RTM-1000 is a wireless system designed for use with audio analyzers, allowing the engineer to test many different points in a large room or arena without having to move the measurement gear. Behind the unique design of the RTM-1000 is the absence of the companding circuit. This enables the transmission of audio test signals without the signal coloration present in standard companded wireless microphone systems.

Bill Gelow, director of engineering for loudspeaker products at EV remarks, "The EV RTM-1000 is what anyone doing acoustic measurements in large spaces needs! Without the burden of hundreds of feet of cable, more measurement locations can be used and in less time. We have been able to measure system response during shows from the front rows into balconies very useful when using line arrays."

Based on the Electro-Voice RE-1, the RTM-1000 includes all of the features found in touring grade wireless mic systems. Advanced ClearScan, full channel programmability across 24 MHz operating bandwidth, and DSP Posi-Phase diversity assure excellent RF performance. "Advanced ClearScan takes the guesswork out of finding the clearest channel in any environment, and it's simple enough for anyone to use," says Dave Egenberger, product manager, wireless microphones. Operation in the UHF frequency band is further enhanced by the patented DSP Posi-Phase diversity system for dropout free audio. The receiver's backlit LCD display shows the sound engineer the group/channel, transmitter battery status, diversity status, RF and audio level meters, and allows space for a custom label.

The RTM-1000 includes a 1/2-rack receiver with matched 1/2-wave collinear ground independent antennas, a mic stand mounting clip for the transmitter, a metal body-pack transmitter and a TA4F connector to XLR microphone cord. The RTM-1 operates for up to 8 hours on one 9-volt alkaline battery for uninterrupted testing. RTM-1000 systems are available in frequency bands that range from 680 MHz to 746 MHz and exhibit a frequency response of 30-15,000 Hz at +/-1 dB.

RTM-1000 systems are available for immediate order and three week delivery. The RTM-1000 price will be announced shortly.
