    Sony Electronics is expanding its wireless product line with the introduction of the MB-X6 tuner base at this week's AES convention. This single rack space tuner frame provides slots for up to six plug-in tuner units, providing a significant space savings configuration for a wide range of wireless applications.

    "The MB-X6 tuner base unit is a powerful and cost-effective asset for managing multi-channel wireless systems," said Paul Foschino, senior manager for professional audio in Sony Electronics' Broadcast and Production Systems Division. "Live theater, broadcast producers, corporate A/V directors, educational users and house of worship audio engineers will find this perfect for setting up and managing all their multi-channel live wireless needs."

    The 1U high 19-inch rack unit MB-X6 tuner base includes six slots for either the WRU-806B or URX-M1 plug-in tuner module, a modular design, auto channel assignment function (each tuner sequentially searches selected group for free channel) and two passive antennas.

    The Sony MB-X6 is planned to be available in March 2006 at a suggested list price of $850.

    WRU-806B UHF Synthesized Tuner Unit:

    • Pre-programmed groups for interference-free, multi-channel operation
    • LED and LCD RF-input status, audio-output status and battery alarm indications for dual operating condition analysis
    • Space diversity reception for dependable RF reception

    The Sony WRU 806B is currently available at a suggested list price of $550.

    URX-M1 UWP Plug-in Tuner Module:

    • RF squelch function virtually eliminates ambient noise
    • Space diversity reception system for stable RF reception
    • LCD screen displays operating channel number and frequency in MHz
    • Pre-programmed groups for interference-free, multi-channel operation

    The Sony URX-M1 UWP plug-in tuner module is available now at a suggested list price of $495

    WD-850A Antenna Divider:

    • Provides diversity output for up to four tuners
    • Two pairs of antenna input connectors for up to four AN-820A antennas to expand the operating area of a wireless microphone system
    • Cascade output can be used for an additional antenna divider or receiver/tuner
    • base unit

    The 850A Antenna Divider is planned to be available in December at a suggested list price of $1,850.
